County Outdoor Citizen Warning/Alert Siren System
The warning system is designed to alert residents and visitors of Wicomico County about an imminent hazard to include weather-related danger such as a tornado warning. Wicomico’s siren system consisting of 14 sirens located at local fire departments and three (3) maintained by the Wicomico County Department of Emergency Services (DES) can be activated for specific affected areas in the county. In the event of an imminent hazard the alert tone – which differs from fire station alarms – will sound for a sustained 2 minutes. They are tested at 6:30 pm the first Monday of every month for 10 seconds. When the sirens sound, citizens should seek shelter immediately and then tune into local news media for additional information. Citizens should not call 9-1-1 to determine the hazard causing the activation.

Reminds me of the 60's and 70's.
If one is inside, probably with something their ears - would they hear the tree fall in the forest?
Uhhh No.
If one is deaf (most elders are hard of hearing, need help OR have the TV blasting), possibilities remain won't hear it. Sleeping being old? HAHAHAHAHAH
Now what is one thing most everyone has? Young/old, rich/poor, employed or not...
Cell Phone.
HELLO? CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW???
It isn't that hard gov't pukes. You won't get 911 calls, but you will get complaints from those out there that normally complain about everything.
More toys for the boys. Do we really need this?? With all the technology do we really need this??
And in 2020 this is the best we can come up with to communicate an emergency? What a joke!
Emergency Services. A bunch of overpaid scanner junkies who drive around in $80k trucks and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!
Hope we never get a tornado at 6:30 the first Monday of the month.
It's been going on for over 50 years 2:44, no new equipment needed.
How about lanterns, one if by land, two if by sea
How will you hear a cell phone if hard of hearing or deaf?
Funny, Thanks!
Two in a row! Love a laugh! Hard to come by these days—
