Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo told a press briefing an officer was shot around 11 p.m. Monday night and is in critical condition and on life support at University Medical Center.
Lombardo said officers were dealing with a large group of rioters at a George Floyd protest near the Circus Circus hotel-casino when the officer went down.
Rioters were allegedly throwing rocks and debris at the officers before the officer was shot, KTNV Las Vegas reports.
“Our officers were attempting to take rocks and bottles from the crowd,” said Lombardo during the press conference. “Officers were attempting to get some of the protesters in custody when a shot rang out and our officer went down.”
SWAT and K9 at the scene responded and were able to apprehend the suspected shooter while a second shooting was also notified:

He needs to distinguish the difference in deputies vs. officers. I know it's nomenclature but there is a difference. Maybe they should be called security guards?
Then they should have returned the favor. Boom, problem solved! The injustices from this will never have an outcome. Store owners being beat and killed for defending their store. No justice will be had for them. I do not agree at all with the police "taking a knee". You can believe what you want, when you have the uniform on you stand to protect and serve without judgment. That is for the legislative and judicial end. They showed weakness.

Lets get more guns so that there can be more shootings and make it more difficult for law enforcement to sort out the good guys and the bad guys
Northwest Woodsman: I once wore that uniform , my youngest son is retired from and my daughter is currently a detective with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. It is a combined police and sheriff’s department headed by an elected sheriff. Naturally, I take this personally and glad that there was a happy ending to the attempts of a second shooter. More actions like that should be a prominent part of the rules of engagement and the more rioters and looters who are injured or killed the more the rioting will disappear. These rioters are not hardcore communist insurgents, they are more likely to be paid, professional Pedomarxist democrat agitators who would run away at the first sign of serious danger to themselves. The remainder are followers who are just looking for a little excitement in their lives and have no real political agenda nor do they have any idea of what actually started it. The stupidity of the average “guy on the street” is astonishing and they are easily led and manipulated by the Marxist chants and slogans. Like Germany in the 20s and 30s, the world will never change. Human nature at its best.
