Why are we letting China buy American companies?

This takeover, the largest takeover of a US company by a Chinese firm, represents a precedent that will damage the American economy and cost jobs in the long run.

It also may have emboldened China. Weeks after permission was granted by Washington, Beijing claimed the airspace over some contested islands in the East China Sea as “a defense identification zone.” Chinese saber rattling forced the Pentagon to dispatch two unarmed B-52 bombers to fly in the airspace to send a message to China that it was overstepping its bounds.

China’s ambitions are multi-pronged and the Smithfield Foods transaction is another questionable invasion by Beijing. Currently, American authorities only evaluate foreign takeovers on the basis of national-security issues or shareholder rights and securities laws. But these criteria are inadequate.

A fairer test in the case of Smithfield, and future buyout attempts by China, should also require reciprocity: Only corporations from countries that allow Americans to buy large companies should be allowed to buy large American companies.

That’s not the case with China, Middle Eastern sheikhs or Russians. Critics of reciprocity label this as protectionism. It’s not. It’s protectiveness.

Here’s why.

So they can shut our economy down when they want .

This sale took place years ago. We loved Smithfield products but never bought them again after that sell out. Sales such as these are heralded by the left and fall right into their plan of globalization.

its called capitalism and this country sold its soul for money back in the late 1970s when BOTH parties allowed outsourcing and corporate buy outs....

Our food supply chain and natural resources (water and air quality, for instance) are national security. When will the taking of rural communities and our food supply stop?!

“We” aren’t letting China buy the companies.
The Companies are selling to the highest bidder (I assume). That is China.

China has a LOT of US Dollars to invest in something with value. They have had enough of no interest US Bonds.

Why is NO ONE even batting an eyelash to all the big oil enormous expansion worldwide?? They have doubled down on producing plastics (this being their biggest growth predictions) and don't even bring up the overwhelming production of paper products. Where are all the tree hugging liberal piss ants now?? Nobody is crying about global warming anymore. United States is full of dumbed down weak ass people that have willingly given over this country to globalization

Sun says " You can win war without firing a shot by controlling fools supply lines". So says Sun. It's working.

Moon says you can control everyone by having fake wars. Team up with Illuminati Families in other Countries, have a fake war, kill a bunch of Goyim, and become rich as the devil.

"WE" the people didnt allow it, the corrupt congress and democrat administration done that and many many things that allowed china to get their hands around our necks. The ONLY way to change it and fight back is to vote them ALL OUT!!! Lets take our country back!

Smithfield hit a bad stretch a few years back; a Chinese group was high bidder, perhaps the only one. Hogs still grown here and they have to comply with US labor laws. Don't know if much product is exported to China before or after the sale. US firms could certainly have purchased them.

Chrysler was bought by Mercedes and is now part of FIAT. Firestone now owned by Bridgestone. Business is dynamic; shifts back and forth.

The exception would be national security interests, We should be cautious there.

The US needs to follow Australia’s lead and kick the Chinese foreign nationals out of our country. Also, no ownership in US Companies or US land! America first, Trump was right all along.
