A Viewer Writes: Salisbury University, PRMC & COVID19

Salisbury University and PRMC have entered into a contract for SU to house COVID19 patients in some of the empty dormitories. Mainly in the ones referred to as Dogwood Village across from Asbury Church. This will be taking place next week. It's all about the Benjamin's.

It's all about capacity . Nanticoke already sent around 15 patients to PRMC.

Anonymous said...

That is better than putting them into nursing homes.

Anonymous said...

Put them into Pelosi's home.

Active COVID or post COVID? We’re does Benjamin’s fit in here? Can’t be active, because you would need medical care.

Ok. So, what’s the problem? The rooms can be cleaned and disinfected before students return. Do you understand that Maryland is facing a 2.3 BILLION dollar deficit? With all of the businesses closed, there is no revenue or tax money coming in. Where do you think universities get their money? Here is a hint...TAX DOLLARS. The colleges are losing money at an alarming rate. Without tax money, they will not be able to survive. If they can rent out dorms to the hospital, it helps mitigate their losses. It’s good business. There are no students there and it is not risking anyone’s health. Please stop trying to make something out of nothing and trying to spread fear and panic.

Dogwood Village is empty and has potential as an overflow option. Why not use it? As for how much it will cost, what are the numbers?

Anonymous said...

Great, a better use for the dorms, instead of housing young indoctrinated, entitled punks

I am guessing it will not be necessary. The warmer weather will stave off some of this.

This is a perfect way for SU to serve the community.

For those of you claiming it’s all about the Benjamins, you would complain “why doesn't SU use their dorm rooms for overflow“. Can’t win with complainers.

And it is only for homeless people with covid-19

Anonymous said...

Why not use it?

Who is going to guarantee these people STAY inside and not troll around, go shopping, visit people and spread their illness.

Dumbass, they are bringing people in from outside of the area, like Delaware.

They are bringing MORE sick people here.

That's why not.

They tried to do this in a small community in Western NY and THEIR MAYOR fought it and stopped it, because it put HIS community at risk.

You ignorant sheeple will throw them a parade and welcome them with open arms.

Everyday is just another day of stupid around here, and you wonder why the rest of the state thinks this place is a garbage can? Because you act like it and allow everyone to dump their problems here.

What is more important - saving lives and helping those who are sick or bitching about the money? The complaints can come later. For now, let's focus on humanity!

That’s because they own Nanticoke in Seaford and have brought their overflow to PRMC and filled the Layfield tower and now moving down to SU. Got to love it. Who’s paying what for who. Oh yeah. Trump to US mint. Add extra 0’s to those bills we are running

Nanticoke hospital is sending their patients here.
They are sending more sick people into our community.
There is no guarantee these people will stay quarantined.
That means we will have more sick people because of it.
Anyone that comes in contact with them is at a higher risk, whether it be food delivery or grocery shopping.
So you get to take it home to your family and infect them.

They need to inform people in the community of the REAL NUMBERS involving this virus.

Does the public know PRMC is housing patients on the second floor of Anchorage nursing home across the street from PRMC as a step down unit.

Anonymous said...

Why hasn’t the space been used to reduce density in area nursing facilities?

By the way, are these local residents with the virus or sick people being imported from other areas?

And will the number of sick people imported from other areas be used as a reason to keep us locked down?

Anonymous said...

Yet we are excepting patients from other parts of the state because our hospitals have room?

Annoy said...

Nope. ....

How can SU and the Nursing home house these patients when Eastern Shore Hospitals are receiving infected patients from the Baltimore / Western Shore areas and Delaware hospitals? Hogan is punishing the Eastern Shore and infecting the Eastern Shore area without any concern for us. We are Marylanders to. Hogan is allowing out of state to come here to the Shore. Hogan is a sorry piece of trash. He needs to go to Korea with his wife for good.

Those being housed at Anchorage - are they virus patients???

Sussex County is the problem for Wicomico and PRMC.

your governor needs to open the state back up and there will be millions of dollars in revenue from employment tax

Our numbers will never go down enough to open the state if we keep importing new patients from out of state, but theirs will go down allowing them to open. We have some piss poor leaders in Maryland.

Good! Colleges are a waste producing people who can’t be productive in the workforce. Then you laden them with debt they can never payback all to ensure you have a lavish campus. I barely use anything from my degree now a days.

Covid is going to change the educational world forever with online schooling being the predominant method. Mega campuses will fall.

Sussex Country is loaded with hispanics. Lots of them are illegal, and living in cramped houses, and they have very poor hygiene habits .

Letter to the Editor

I'd like to know why PRMC did away with their Decontamination Tent for the ambulances and police cars. They literally said F*** You to the EMS professionals and Law Enforcement Officers. What is worse than that is the leadership in Wicomico County paid $25,000 for a used tent and they are allowing Delaware, Virginia, Dorchester, Worcester, Somerset County, etc. ambulances to use it for free at Wicomico County taxpayer's expense.

Where is the outrage, people?? No, it isn't going to be re-reimbursed by the Federal Government. PRMC is a not for profit hospital and they should have bought the tent. Shame on you Steve Leonard, you dumb moron!

Anonymous said...

No, because this is not true

Anonymous said...

Nanticoke and PRMC never a while back. They are basically one hospital, operating under two different areas. Everything is combining, so why wouldn’t Nanticoke move patients over to PRMC, where there was more medical staff available...

Anonymous said...

People are being sent here because they have smaller, full hospitals and those patients need medical care at the next closest facility. Just think if it was you that needed care and your local hospital couldn't admit you.

Anonymous said...

That was supposed to say Nanticoke and PRMC merged a while back.

They do not care if the folks here live or die
We are expendable

If the PRMC board and Leonard weren't so stupid and thought things thru, they would have left Nanticoke in Delaware and then these sick people could be sent to Christiana. We need leadership at PRMC that knows what they are doing, and we need a caring board that is made up of regular local people that are not in the Who's Who of Salisbury. Look at the make up of the board and it's the top brass of companies etc. My family works at PRMC and they are NOT telling the truth about what's going on there. Steve you are in over your head! and the ass kissing board needs to all be gone!

Waste of time and money and a complete over reaction Mark my words here and now it won't be needed Admissions is pretty much staying the same and the reason for the high death rate was because in plain English plugs are being pulled after weeks on ventilators and no recovery. Sad but the truth.

This is true. Why officials didn't get into those communities sooner was dumb. Everyone else knew not only do those people work and live together but that also they were getting sick. The only explanation is the chicken companies chose to ignore and they control the government. caarney just like all democrats is a complete failure and is the cause for the spread in DE because he ignored the alarms going off in sussex because he is nothing but a slave to big business as all democrats are. The only thing more worthless then a democrat politician are the pathetic losers who vote democrat.

Anonymous said...

I don’t know about excepting patients but I do know we are accepting patients.

Anonymous said...

Actually the ventilators are hurting people

Enough of the sweet, sappy, talk-down emails to the support staff at PRMC. The support staff works their front line butts off every day. We deserve hazard pay or bonuses NOT asinine emails that don’t include everyone. Stop discriminating - it’s all of us or none of us. Let’s call in all the all the staff working at home. Let them work as “runners”. Oh, yeah, those are all the phony 2020 buzz-word “analysts” working at home analyzing their granola bars. Better yet, the Executive staff should return their huge bonuses and freeze their income.
