Kentucky Governor Vetoes Voter ID Bill

Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear on Friday vetoed a bill pushed by Republican lawmakers to require Kentucky residents to show a government-issued photo ID in order to vote.

In his veto message, the governor said the measure would create an obstacle to voting, resulting in fewer people casting ballots and “undermining our democracy.”

Beshear said the bill seeks to “resolve a problem that does not exist" because voter impersonation isn’t a problem in Kentucky.

The measure passed the Senate and House by wide margins. The legislature is scheduled to reconvene April 13. Secretary of State Michael Adams urged lawmakers to override the veto.

The measure passed the Senate and House by wide margins, therefore the people have spoken.
If passed, expect lots of lawsuits from the usual Leftist organizations.

How on earth can you say the people have spoken?

Here is a fact. I dont know a single person that thinks vote ID is a bad idea and I dont know a single person that thinks open boarders is a good idea.

NOT ONE! The people I do hear talking about both of these are ravenous liberal idiots and particularly Univ. Profs and Leftist activists and lobbyists. Oh and politicians.

I just find it odd that every Dem politician is for Open boarders and against voter ID yet I cant find a single rational adult that would side with this. NOT ONE!

I am not some born here stay here either. I am widely traveled and have family all over the country.

The narrative that ID laws are bad and open boarders is good are what people want is a lie. A giant LIE!

Simple case of both sides being right. Unfortunately the wahoos on both isdes will block common sense.

#1 cant state this enpgh: it is a complete fantasy world pushed by Trump and associates that makes people think voter fraud is rampant. None of it is backed by the real data.

#2 getting an ID is not an issue for most folks. As long as contingencies are made for seniors, this is pretty easy to implement and doesnt make for a big hurdle

Northwest Woodsman: You need ID to collect welfare, fly commercial, to receive section eight housing, to qualify for food stamps, to drive a car, to cash a welfare check, rent a house, qualify for a mortgage, collect social security, qualify for a loan, buy a gun, and probably many more that I can’t think of at the moment. So, there must be a reason that Pedomarxist democrats don’t want ID required for voting. I’m thinking they enjoy having the ability to engage in voter fraud as they are the ones who benefit greatly from it. Obvious isn’t it?

Glad to know the honor system works perfectly in KY.

We'll try that for driving, liquor and cigarette purchases.

The people he talks about sure know how to get them money benefits, their drivers license, Social Security benefits, SNAP benefits and Food Bank privileges. Typical Democrat undermining America.

If it passed by large margins then there should be enough votes to Veto the Gubbna.

All through the Mueller investigation the Dems claimed they didn’t want foreign influence in our elections. So now they want to open our borders & have “no voter ID”…. Is this so every Russian can cross our border on election day & vote at every voting poll that they can get to that day? Or for that matter, any foreigner can walk in & vote????? Only someone with the IQ of an acorn, like a democrat would come up with that logic !!!

You need ID to get into a movie, if they think you are too young...

Northwest Woodsman you forgot a good one. You need an ID to get into a Democrat convention :)

If asked you need an ID, to buy alcohol, cigarettes, cash a check, receive proceeds from a real estate sale, apply for a passport, pickup registered mail, enter a public school, or government building, seniors and veterans discounts, just to name some more.

Northwest Woodsman: Thanks 3:12! That is a good one. I’m sure that there are many more also. Just thought of another- I’m sure that bail bondsmen require ID also and that would seriously effect the demographic that is concerned with being required to present ID to vote!
