Gas hits $1.89 nationwide average, but you can get it for 79 cents in one state

Gas prices dropped to a national average of $1.89 on Thursday, down from $2.38 one month ago. AAA reports that the April 9 price was $2.75 last year.

A conflux of low demand due to stay-at-home policies aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus and a recent crude oil price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia is behind the dramatic drop.

Wisconsin currently has the lowest statewide average at $1.39, followed by $1.45 in Oklahoma and $1.51 in Ohio.

Demand doesn't exist, yet there is an over supply. Well one thing different than everything else - gas/oil never spoils so we remain at the mercy of BIG OIL. Until we (USA) start providing it to ourselves...rather than sending it to others.

Where did we go so wrong and allow GREED to be more important than self. Not really a question, just a thought.

943 US is (was) the biggest producer of oil for years and our imports have drastically dropped. Where have you been?

Here's whats funny: the "boom" in manufacturing jobs Trump touts. Largely due to upramp in US oil production. That ramp up had little to nothing to do with Trump policy and everything to do with oil hitting a profitable margin. Oil at $20 - $30 a barrel means those same jobs will get hit hard. Keep these simple facts in your mind moving forward so you stop falling for the BS coming out of politicians mouths from either side of the aisle.

Also keep in mind - lower priced gas means LESS gas taxes going to the states/Feds. They don't like that at all!!!
