Farage Warns Chinese Interests Lining up for ‘Fire Sale’ of UK Businesses

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage has warned that Chinese interests are lining up to take advantage of the coronavirus crisis by buying “vast swathes of our strategic and manufacturing industries”.

“What is happening right now is that Chinese companies and Chinese money are lining up for what they expect to be a ‘fire sale’ of British businesses,” Mr Farage said during a Facebook live stream on Wednesday.

Mentioning that Germany has put into law protections for German companies against foreign takeover during the coronavirus crisis, he continued: “I fear, we’re going to allow China in to buy up vast swathes of our strategic and manufacturing industries and it just can’t be allowed.

They own far more than you will ever know. Things like the app Zoom are owned by shell companies ran by the Chinese State.

Northwest Woodsman: Good plan Germany. Hopefully others will follow your lead. China has been a dangerous enemy for a very long time and I’m hoping that this Coronavirus situation will cause many more countries to crack down on expanding Chinese influence around the world. Greedy manufacturers have transferred technology and utilized cheap Chinese labor working for slave wages to increase their bottom line with no thought of the consequences. I doubt that we could field a military force capable of successfully engaging the Chinese because from what I understand some spare parts for our military equipment is manufactured in China and to field a military force basic items such as boots, belt buckles, uniforms, etc., would be impossible if China were the manufacturing source. We need to get back to a strict borders, language and culture stance and eliminate dependency on others.
