AOC offers advice for young people to get around stimulus check exclusion

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez railed against a provision in the coronavirus cash assistance program that penalizes young people and offered advice on how to potentially get around that during a virtual town hall this week.

The one-time payments of up to $1,200 per person and $500 per child will help most Americans, but there are some exceptions that have frustrated the New York Democrat, including many young people between the ages of 17 and 24 being passed over.

"There are a lot of populations that are left out," Ocasio-Cortez said of the $2.2 trillion stimulus package President Trump signed into law on March 27. "And one of the most left-out populations are young people, which has been an extreme disappointment."

This dumbass always looks for holes in things, and then starts nit picking at it to look important. Go back to reading Vanity Fair. The adults are working on this.

Chances are they would just blow it on drugs and alcohol so who cares...I certainly don't. Maybe the next gen will take interest in how to run their affairs and the government. And stop electing ding bats like aoc.

If she wants to award criminals for sneaking into our country, she should ask her friend Pelosi to give them some money out of her millions!

You could probably pan-handle 1200 bucks in a week with a little effort.

I love how people beat up on the younger generations. Most of you all raised the kids or maybe even your grandkids to be this way. You all raised these generations. I would bet half of you all on here have loser kids and grandkids. You all can blame yourselves for the problems we ha be with the next generation.

The stimulus goes to those who will spend it and not do stock buy backs and executive bonus's!

What is your point

I don't like the way it's being done either. I have an 18 year old and a 19 year old. They both live at home so we claim them on our taxes. They both go to college, work full time, pay taxes, and have car payments and insurance. We don't get the $500 for them and they don't get a stimulus check. It makes no sense.

Hey, AOC, your Party's senior leadership approved it.

Get a job, move out of your momma's house, pay taxes.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS whining about things you SHOULD have, things you DESERVE.

NEVER wondering how to get a raise, improve your situation, or EARNING a damn thing. Change THAT and the whole world will open up for you.

Did I go too fast for you?

Well, they can't live off of their parents (dependents) and live off of a job at the same time. Either they are dependents, and their parents get $500.00 for supporting their sorry asses, or they are self supporting adults with jobs, that will receive a $1200 check. They can't have it both ways. AOC is such a dunce.

Same 9:54 ..And I Agree ! This It Total BULLCRAP Leaving My Son Out Too !!!

It doesn't matter. It is just an advance on next year's taxes. It is not 'free' money or extra. People are just getting it now instead of when they file next year.

Anonymous said...

@12:40 yes but that advance is not from what one normally gets, it is from a new refundable tax credit that would have been there. There is nothing to pay back and that's assuming one even works this year.
