OCEAN CITY — Stemming the spread of the COVID-19 virus remained the focus of Gov. Larry Hogan’s actions announced on Monday, but the governor and his staff also announced an expansive $175 million relief package to help the state’s small businesses weather the storm.
The federal U.S. Small Business Administration has already ramped up programs for businesses struggling or expecting to struggle as a result of the crisis and Maryland is rolling out an aggressive program of its own to the tune of around $175 million. During his press conference on Monday, Hogan acknowledged his executive orders will strain nearly every facet of the economy and characterized the state’s efforts as fighting “twin battles.”
“We know that the steps we’ve taken to protect the health and well-being of all Marylanders have made a significant impact on our business community,” he said. “Today, in addition to funding through the U.S. Small Business Administration, we are making new financial assistance programs available to help our businesses continue to operate during this unprecedented crisis. These programs will offer the kind of much-needed support our businesses need right now and help them to pay bills and retain their workforce as much as possible.”

its great that these people will get some much needed help but i want to know where is the additional money going to come from? Along with the massive spending package that got slid though, the people of this state just cannot afford all the additional taxes that will be coming at us. Where is this money coming from?
Larry what about the employees of eci and the staff that you cut our emergency pay to state employees? Don’t you think you need to tell us the truth and owe the public safety community an explanation?
Folks. . .don't be swindled into believing that Maryland officials are here to help you. As my daddy used to say; 'Treat the governing officials as criminals until they prove themselves orherwise'. Fact is, look at the burdensome taxes that you are already paying and that's the proof.
Money comes from us...we pay ourselves and those that have more get less. Those who have less and get more. Tell me that truly makes sense. THEN we will be taxed for whatever income we receive the next tax year. Again tell me that truly makes sense.

Help the people and they will spend their money at the small business's. The we will ALL be helped. They will just take the money and put it in their fat bank accounts, anyway. How will that help the people?
