Don't miss it! The next Supermoon rises at 7:15pm TONIGHT

WASHINGTON (ABC7) — Get ready for the first of 3 consecutive supermoons this coming Monday evening as the moon rises at 7:15pm.

What is a supermoon?

Since the moons orbit is more of an ellipse, it gradually moves farther or closer to Earth along its orbit. When it is closest to Earth, that is known as perigee. When a Full Moon coincides with perigee, it is considered a supermoon since it can appear slightly larger and brighter than a regular full moon.
