It’ll be a lot cooler this summer in Montgomery County, Maryland — at least for the roughly 300,000 people who rent.
After approving amendments to a bill requiring that landlords provide air conditioning to their tenants, the Montgomery County Council voted unanimously to pass Bill 24-19.
The bill details that landlords have to provide air conditioning in apartments from June 1 through Sept. 30.
“We need to treat this bill like a public health issue,” Council member Will Jawando said.

When the government doesn't own but control businesses that's called fascism
Look for rent increases that will fully cover installation costs, plus a hefty inconvenience fee. Electric bills may double, triple or even quadruple to operate these units. It's a good bet that some landlords will forego safety for savings and put tenants at risk.
So sick of those tyrants.

They might have to provide the air conditioner, but they don't have to pay the utility bill. If they do, then the rent will be raised on the tenants. Good intentions can have negative consequences. Typical democrat legislation.
Window fans work just fine, floor fans if it’s really hot. Hopefully they didn’t specify the whole house has to be air conditioned, just a window unit in one room.
