Columnist and George Mason economics Professor Walter E. Williams is warning Virginia residents about Gov. Ralph Northam’s (D) gun registry plan.
Northam has been pushing an all-out ban on AR-15s and similar rifles for some time, but he recently changed the scope of the ban in the face of the growing Second Amendment Sanctuary movement.
On December 10, 2019, Breitbart News reported that Northam changed his position from supporting an across-the-board ban on possession of such weapons to supporting a ban only in a situation where a person refuses to register the firearm with the government. The Virginia Mercury quoted Northam spokeswoman Alena Yarmosky saying, “The governor’s assault weapons ban will include a grandfather clause for individuals who already own assault weapons, with the requirement they register their weapons before the end of a designated grace period.”
On December 27, 2019, Dr. Williams used a Fox News op-ed to warn Virginians “not to fall for the registration trick.” He said, “Knowing who owns what weapons is the first step to confiscation.”
Williams added:
James Madison, in Federalist Paper No. 46 wrote that the Constitution preserves “the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation … (where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.”
Thomas Jefferson wrote: “What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.”
Too many Americans believe the Second Amendment grants Americans the right to own firearms only to go hunting and for self-protection. The framers of our Constitution had no such intent in mind.

The intent of the 2nd amendment was to ensure the people were always able to resist and fight whatever came up that needed to be resisted or fought.
It was to allow the citizens to have in their possession every weapon the gov't had in their arsenal so we would be able to fight if necessary, on a level battlefield.
Not any of that crap of 'needing' a weapon, but a RIGHT of having any weapon.
Neither side will compromise, and that is why it will be devastating. Even tho most dont want violence, yes some do on both sides. Some citizens see war as the only way they have to destroy the evil ones, the tyrants. The rulers want to rule, some with an iron fist and they detest any who might interfere or alter their plans. Very large amounts of money changed hands for those powerful legislative seats. These new legislators like the VA governor are returning cold blank responses when citizens are meeting with them even now, begging them to reconsider. This unconstitutional scheme played in VA is the spearhead and it will be thrust to many blue crime ridden states cities. Like the perfect storm the silent majority has long awaited justice for the traitors, thieves and tyrants, yet again, justice is delayed, grinding ever so slowly, and admittedly would be a great election campaign. The other side has for decades planned to disarm the populace so they can rule without fear. But now things shift to high gear, they must cause an uprising so the can justify disarming the law abiding, but mostly they will shout and blame the President. Division is the crown they will place on Trump, and Cuomo sounded the first horn of division. The Progressive Communist has no hesitation starting wars, the killing of men, women and children, just look at the many wars our own corrupt politicians have started, some for power, most for money, they've laundered our tax money, trillions, for decades. Stealing and wasting and enriching themselves while our families, our Country in need and disrepair. The more we suffer, the greater they rule.
I would have no regret fighting or even dying defending the Constitution, it would be an Honor. But a heavy solemn sadness is setting in. A sadness knowing this could have easily been avoided. I guess we are all to blame to some faction. Simple being naive and complacent and uninformed. Those that took Oaths to protect the highest laws of the land, no lawyers, justices or even the supreme judges willing to admit corruption and politics has torn at our Constitution and well being, our civil liberties spat upon so the corrupt can rule with absolute corruption. They have spent decades and billion dicing up the simple words "Shall Not Infringe". This isnt just a law, not just a civil right. It is a WARNING. Now you know why there are no visible written punishment or sentences for those corrupt and evil enough to violate and attempt to legislate the destruction of The United States Constitution
