Salvation Army leaders said Monday that they are “saddened” by Chick-fil-A’s decision to stop donating to the charitable organization, arguing that the 154-year-old group has been the target of misinformation regarding its stance on LGBT individuals.
Chick-fil-A, which has also faced years of criticism from LGBT activists, announced this week that its foundation would give money to a smaller number of charities, focusing exclusively on education, homelessness, and hunger.
The decision comes as Chick-fil-A is seeking to open more restaurants and expand its geographical reach, encountering mounting resistance from activists in the process. As a result, it has cut ties with several Christian organizations, including the Salvation Army, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, as well as a number of Christian schools.
“We’re saddened to learn that a corporate partner has felt it necessary to divert funding to other hunger, education and homelessness organizations — areas in which The Salvation Army, as the largest social services provider in the world, is already fully committed,” the organization said in a statement Monday afternoon.
“When misinformation is perpetuated without fact, our ability to serve those in need, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or any other factor, is at risk. We urge the public to seek the truth before rushing to ill-informed judgment.”
Known for its Christmas-season bell ringers soliciting donations on city street corners, the Salvation Army has faced criticism from LGBT activists for years. But the attacks have increased in recent days after singer Ellie Goulding threatened to withdraw from a planned Thanksgiving halftime performance that was to serve as the start of the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign fundraising drive, unless the group pledged to support the LGBT community.

Bad bad move..the organazation that gives the most of every dollar collected. Better reevaluate your stance on this one or youll lose big time on this..not very christain of you to cave to the heathens and luciferian.
Stand firm Chick-fil-A. Don't let these shaggy tails tell you how to run your business. They weren't there in the beginning, but they will be there at your downfall.
So, Chic-Filet has managed to kiss the ace of 1% of the people who STILL WON'T GO to that restaurant AND pissed off the people who made them successful AND have snubbed their nose at an organization that spends more of their donations on actually helping people than any other one I can think of right now.
Yet they CHEER the Clinton Foundation, which is the biggest scam on charity I've ever seen.
When will someone tell these strange and unusual things that the world does not revolve around their feelings???
Wow, I think twice before eating there now. Wonder if there has been a change on the executive level.
Think of all the volunteer “bell ringers “ that will no longer eat at chickfila, including ME.. Their food is mediocre at best but I admired their morals. I can buy chicken anywhere.
Sad that they gave in to the small number of protesters vs. their greater number of supporters who discovered their great food. They will likely see a decline in business now because of not standing up for their beliefs and supporting organizations that agree with their values.
At 6:30 a.m., that is a whole issue, Chick-fil-A has buckled they are not standing firm. So a lot of good people will not be standing to support Chick-fil-A anymore. They have made a very bad decision.
nothing but HAPPY CIGARETTES
