A Viewer Writes......SEX OFFENDERS / HALLOWEEN /WICOMIICO

As a concerned parents I want to know WHY Wicomico SEX OFFENDERS don't have to put YARD SIGNS up on there LAWN? Who are we protecting the Kids or the Perverts ... We in Hebron, mardela, and Salisbury have plenty of them and even if they are "COMPLIANT" Why is this allowed ? Most states they have to put up yard signs. WHAT SAY YOU WICOMICO OFFICIALS ARE YOUR KIDS KNOCKING ON THERE DOOR .?

Most states don't require a yard sign.

And, for any concerned parents, there are websites that will show you which houses in your neighborhood the sex offenders live at. Best to inform your child, and warn your child, about not only that particular person, but also about adults in general.

Yeah we have 1 on main St and another Right behind him ?In mardela zero signs up./

That's what's wrong with parents today. They want police and teachers to do their jobs for them. Take your kid trick or treating. Don't let them go alone. Especially if you worried about it. See how easy it is? Not one taxpayer dollars spent.

Are you sure nothing is being done? There used to be a program through Parole and Probation in Maryland that would send out signs to all convicted offenders that stated there was no candy at the residence and they were told they must stay indoors, turn outside lights off and do not answer the doors.

Did you contact anybody directly about your concerns or just decide to put it on a blog without knowing any facts first?

But more importantly, as a parent why are you not at your child's side when they're going door-to-door? If you are at your child's side where you should be as a responsible parent, there will be no problem.

How about taking some personal responsibility and accompany your child instead of letting them roam from house to house without supervision?

Maybe you could also accompany them to English class as well.

There is a website readily available to see the addresses of sex offenders. In this country, a person's residence is still considered private. I despise sex offenders and your proposed invasion of privacy by equal measures.

Anonymous said...

They are required to have something on THEIR door if I'm not mistaken.

Take your children to sponsored events then you don't have to worry about it. I believe there are a lot of trunk or treat events as well as something downtown. Be smart, don't go door to door.

"Their" door.

Statistically speaking, Halloween presents no additional threat of abductions or molestations than any other day. The documented increase in threat to children on Halloween comes from drunk drivers. Look up the stats. If you really thought there was a danger of your child being molested, I doubt you would let them go knock on someone's door asking for a bag full of diabetes. I think your moral indignation is just virtue signaling. Sexual abuse cases reported to law enforcement regarding juvenile victims: 34% were family members. 7% were strangers. (The other 59% are coaches, teachers, priests, etc) In other words, children are 5X more likely to be raped by a family member than by a stranger. I suppose that would make Christmas more dangerous than Halloween...

I know we only took the kids to places where I knew who lived there. I'm sure there are more pedophiles that are not listed than there are listed. Those are the ones you have to watch for. Take them to the trunk or treat events where it is safer for the kids.

I have a friend that is a registered sex offender because he was peeing at night in the woods behicd a bar where nobody saw him but the cop that watched him go into the woods. Take your kids trick or treating as others have suggested if you are that worried about it.

I have a problem with that stupid idea. The whole sex offender thing is quite often a bad idea, that's not to say a rapist shouldn't be held accountable, but when an 18 year old boy is caught having sex with his girlfriend who is one or two days away the age of consent he then gets labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life.If that was,and in actuality it is,there are a hell lot of high school kids that would be stuck with that forever.

Anonymous said...

@12:03, That last line was just too funny!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Only if there on Probation.

Anonymous said...

Statement from the Sheriff would be nice.

Anonymous said...

There are numerous in Hebron and DA BURY ask a Foxwell.

Anonymous said...

Yeah right. You don't think sex offenders come to those events? Think again.

Anonymous said...

I know. I'm crying laughing.

Anonymous said...

Even if a parent is with them how do they know whether the person is a sex offender or not and if a condition of real ease is no contact with children, explain how they are to know!

Anonymous said...

Well said!

11:53 Thank you. What parent is so busy that they can't take their kids around for trick-or-treating? And, if your kid is that young that they don't know if something is amiss, and they let them go alone, maybe they should be charged with neglect.
I'm not condoning child-abusers, but they had their trial and sentence. Let them alone now and avoid their house if you want.

Your out of your frickn kind if you think I’m going to miss ET just so I can take my kids trick or treating.

Anonymous said...

This is the most ridiculous request I have ever heard. Must be another liberal democrat want the world to take care of their problems. Be a responsible parent and only take your precious little baby to only people you know. Or if you are worried, make a map of places to visit and don’t go to those houses.

Anonymous said...

How about keeping your kids at home instead of sending them out begging? Buy 'em a big ole bag of teeth rotting candy at walmart and keep them home. and you will know they are safe.

Anonymous said...

Signed another offender.

Anonymous said...

Like 3rd Friday.

Girdletree said...

3:33- He's right. Same thing happened to kid at Pork in the Park. Different tiers and classifications, but still labeled a sex offender.

Girdletree said...

To buy a copy of E.T. when it was first released on VHS cost well over Three hundred dollars.

Anonymous said...

if teyt gave done their time then even they should be left alone. If they ave a sign up and they are attacked and murdered then whom is held responsible? Have you not heard that innocent people are convicted every day on bs charges.

Anonymous said...

Another sympathizer.

Anonymous said...

These pro comments must be coming from one of the Over 200 sex offenders in Jake Salisbury.

Anonymous said...

241 Are you that dumb? Let me walk you through this, if a parent is with their child trick or treating at a convicted or suspected sex offender's house he/she will not try anything shady. This is not rocket science.

Anonymous said...

The girl should be charged too if the boy is under 18

Anonymous said...

We avoid the houses with the jake day signs in the lawn.
Better safe than sorry

Anonymous said...

Well, back in the day, probably a third of our High School were sex offenders. Guys and Girls. We had 15 to as old as 19 year olds all mixing it up. Some of that was going on in Junior high.
I doubt it's changed a great deal.

5:05- Signed, ignorant troll. If you're calling names and accusations, you need to try harder than that, POS.

Anonymous said...

You idiot. I said Entertainment Tonight. No E.T. Do you watch anything on TV?

Girdletree said...

4:49-Looks like you said ET to me! Apparently I dont watch as much as you. You sound like a winner. Keep ignoring your kids.

Anonymous said...

You can find a list of registered sex offenders online. Write down the address's and do not take your kids there. Simple as that. Waaaaa, waaaaa.

Anonymous said...

10:02 you talk like somebody with a paper ass

Anonymous said...

@4:34 At least he makes sense. What does that even mean!? Paper ass? Why so angry? You must just be another little troll. You guys went off the rails again. No kids to scream at for playing on your lawn, apparently. So, here you are. Get a life!

Anonymous said...

1047 your the POS.

Anonymous said...

2:58- What are you? 5?

Anonymous said...

Why just sex offenders? I'd be more concerned about going to.convicted drug addiction ts or dealers houses? Why not people convicted of domestic violence? And gun crimes? Or people who have speeding tickets? They might whizz out of their driveway and hit someone. Heck, let's have anyone with any kind of criminal.conviction have to post it at the bottom of their driveway.

Wicomico County sex offenders is a huge problem and especially right in the downtown area of Salisbury. Your question is a good one but also did you know that in Maryland we used to have a law that they couldn't live or hang out around schools and churches there was a distance they had to adhere to but we no longer have that law. That law stopped when O'Malley was in office and also the death penalty was stopped. We need to do all that we can to get these laws back on the books to make Salisbury safer for its citizens especially the children and in general cut down on #1 crime which our SPD Chief Duncan doesn't care about.

Anonymous said...

The problem with that law is when you draw all those circles and they intersect, there is no place for these people to exist. It makes political points to hammer pedos- and I'm not defending them- but drug dealers are a far bigger threat to our youth, and they can live next door to you with no problem. I saw they should be the one who have to.post signs every day of the year, if anyone should.

Anonymous said...

Why so many on the Eastern Shore?

Anonymous said...

What is the difference in Halloween or not. Don’t go to the door and you will be fine. They have to keep there lights off at Halloween. If a kid goes up there and knocks it is the kids problem and the parents problem. If you make them put signs up then you open a can of worms for drug dealers and other crimes. All sex offenders have differ cases from peeing in public to rape.

Anonymous said...

And if a condition of release is " no contact " how would a parent know? Some of these sicko's get off just seeing kids in costume. You are talking about some of the sickest taking advantage of some of the most vulnerable in society.

Anonymous said...

For the same reason people aren't forced to have a drunk driver sticker attached to their car or any number of other shame worthy crimes. You do not have an inherent right to persecute people who have paid their debt to society for the rest of their lives. If you feel they did not serve enough jail times for their crimes then lobby for harsher punishments.
