Woodstock 50 artists are getting paid despite cancellation

Even though the eternally troubled Woodstock 50 festival has finally been canceled, the artists who were scheduled to perform are getting a big payday without ever having to play a note.

A rep for the festival confirmed to Variety that every artist on the bill has been paid in full — that’s some 76 artists, not including the Black Keys (who pulled out shortly after being announced) and the “and more” listed for each day. Top artists included Jay-Z, Dead & Company, the Killers, Miley Cyrus, Imagine Dragons, Chance the Rapper, Halsey, the Raconteurs, Santana, John Fogerty and others.

The artists were paid in advance, with the money being held in escrow until the festival either took place or was canceled, sources say. That money has been released, a source tells Variety, with all of it going to the artists or their representatives.

Wow, sounds like our Politicians, they get paid when they do nothing too!

Looks to me like the organizer is trying to buy votes and you all know for which party

@6:07. It works that when you book an act of any fame you pay upfront. If you change the venue you changed the contract and they are not obligated to attend nor offer a refund.

Jay-z and Fogerty could have easily altered their flight plan as nothing changed about the time. They just delighted in ripping the promoters off (albeit legally) and didn't give a F about the fans.

@9:23 Creedence Clearwater Revival isn't real music? That's who Fogerty is, the lead singer.
