President Trump should 'Make Baltimore Great Again'

My friend Mike Nadler emails an idea so good that I wonder if it is being planned by President Trump. It would be a way of turning on its head the phony accusation that MAGA is about returning to the days of segregation and provide justification for his criticisms of Elijah Cummings for doing nothing to help his most beleaguered constituents.

Mike writes:
How about Trump kicking off a campaign to help Baltimore with a big speech with the explicit theme "Make Baltimore Great Again!"? With MBGA hats and all. He can paint a picture of how bad things have gotten there using statistics and quotes from an array of Democrats ranging from the former Baltimore mayor who talked about smelling the rats to Bernie Sanders comparing it to a Third World country, to the New York Times story, "The Tragedy of Baltimore."

He could then go on to propose a major program (or at least a study commission) to help it in the way we help some cities after natural disasters along with leadership changes.

When was the last time any of you have had to go too any Mid-Atlantic or East Coast City ? Given population percentages Salisbury is no better off given crime and poverty statistics and over all apathy and ignorance filth and slum lording. You want to talk about divides ? They exist right here. One upscale hot spot goes bankrupt and now there's an up and coming Oyster house on the Plaza LOL. It will never happen here people cried when Golden Corral closed and they pray for a Cracker Barrel. The local Elites are smart and driven people. They can cook. Only the real estate agents and local Politicos go out and booze and schmooze . You can't run a business on them and cheap retirees here from elsewhere looking for high end culture. LOL regional seafood is not even safe to eat anymore it's time to stop trying to capitalize on Eastern Shore and Bay nostalgia. Locals will line up with their walkers and canes at the China Buffet.

Baltimore's condition is the responsibility of, in this order, with those at the top most responsible:

It's residents; they make the mess and tolerate it
It's council members; they can pass laws and create effective programs
It's mayor; King Willie Don was the last effective mayor; those since were outright crooks, in the best Maryland tradition, or sought higher office without finishing their job in Baltimore
MD state delegates and senators from the area; again more actual neglect
MD Governor; they have been unwilling to get to the root and find a cure
US congressmen and senators
The President.

No problem at all with the president pointing out the facts, but it's not his mess to fix.
