Washington is no stranger to bloodsucking parasites, but scientists have identified a new species of previously unrecognized medicinal leech.
It’s the first one discovered on the continent in over 40 years.
Macrobdella mimicus was first identified from specimens collected in a Southern Maryland swamp in 2015.
Anna Phillips, the museum’s curator of parasitic worms, led the international team of scientists that found the leeches.
In case you needed some nightmare fuel, Macrobdella mimicus has three jaws, each of which contain from 56 to 59 teeth.

Bloodsucking Parasites in Washington. Is this what the Democrats are producing there now.
It isn't just Washington its all over the country. Politicians red and blue want more for them and less for you.
Just call it a Liberal Socialists, they are Blood Sucking Leaches.
I looked up the company that owns that article. 11 TV stations, 50 radio stations, not a big operation. I knew that CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, NY Times and Washington Post wouldn't be bold enough to open with that first line. 😂
Yeah, I think everyone was thinking the same thing when they read that first line.
