Public schools in South Dakota must have the “In God We trust” motto on display at all times now due to a new state law — which is meant to “inspire patriotism.”
“Some have plaques. Others have it painted on the wall, maybe in a mural setting,” explained Wade Pogany, executive director of the state’s Associated School Boards.
He told reporters this week that educators have already started complying with the new law, which went into effect earlier this month after being approved by Gov. Kristi Noem back in March.

Look, I get Christians. You feel the need to insert your religion into every place it wasn't asked for, nor needed. It's like the emperor wears no clothes... you think the louder and more visible you are, the more it makes your baseless claims true. It's another way you can perpetuate the lie that America was founded on Christianity... it was not.
Now you have decided that you know what's better for other people's children. It's appalling.
To hide behind the stance of "it's the national motto" is a lie. It's dishonest. This is just the excuse used to ratchet your religion into where it doesn't belong.

This may not be the solution, however is a step in the right direction.

On July 30, 1956 “In God are Trust” became the official motto of the United States - if this offends someone, they are more than welcome to live in another country.

Please to list the specific religious principles this country was founded on. I am more than happy to admit I'm wrong, but no one has yet to substantiate this tired meme.
I don't believe in your deity, so it's absurd to suggest I believe in your devil.
Our country was made up of a population majority of Christians, but to suggest it was founded on religious principles is to suggest that slavery is a religious principle, which I don't think really fits the bill, does it? Most of the founding fathers were deists... not Christian.
Our founding documents are secular documents. If you look at the first four commandments of the ten commandments (I am the LORD thy God, No other gods before me, No graven images or likenesses, Not take the LORD's name in vain, Remember the sabbath day), the 1st amendment - religious liberty - is in direct conflict with these.
In fact, only 3 of the 10 ever made it into law - false witness, murder, and adultery; yet adultery laws aren't really found or enforced anymore in the U.S.... So it's really just 2 of them. Laws against murder and false witness are found in almost every culture and religion ever, so there's nothing special about them relating to Christianity.
The Constitution is a secular document.
In conclusion to quote Thomas Jefferson in a letter to John Adams, April 11 1893: "We are not now, nor have we ever been, a Christian nation."
This misguided ratcheting of a religious message is a dishonest misuse of a loop hole made by Christians to force feed their religion onto other people's children, and it is reprehensible. You violate your own tenants in doing so... and it's shameful.

In fact, I'm not okay with public schools teaching about sex. If they wish to teach reproduction, that's fine.

A little context matters. That motto was voted in as a reaction to the "red scare"... to distinguish us from the "godless communists"... it was scare tactics plus smoke and mirrors.
Christians were more than happy to assert their majority.
It was a mistake then, and it is a mistake now.
If you don't like our secular republic... how about YOU leaving and moving to a theocracy where freedom and liberty for ALL doesn't exist?
SO , I guess you think there's a better way?

What are you talking about? 70% of the United States is Christian, almost all the Presidents and Elected officials on the Federal, State, and Local levels for all of U.S. history have been almost exclusively Christian.
If your conclusion is correct that there is complete corruption, everything is out of control, and no morals or values are being taught to our children... it has been at the hands of Christians. This is what we get when those with religious beliefs are in charge?
Are Christian parents not teaching their children morals or values?
Printing some slogan on the walls of schools isn't fixing anything... it's a ploy to satisfy and rally voters.. so stop pretending like it is any sort of fix or solution. IT IS NOT.
A step in the right direction would be for parents to get involved. Give teachers the authority to kick kids out of class. Expel the trouble makers. Make kids accountable for their work, stop giving participation trophies. Make them play dodgeball, and get picked last.
All of those things would be easy, and far more effective than painting some religious slogan on a wall.
