Why Trump Might Not Appear on Some States' 2020 Ballots

Garden State voters may not be able to cast ballots for President Trump in 2020 unless he's prepared to show where he gets his green.

The New Jersey state Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill Thursday that would block presidential and vice presidential candidates from appearing on ballots in the next general election if they refuse to publicly release their tax returns.

The measure, which passed the Democratically-controlled Senate in a 23-11 vote, would prove particularly problematic for Trump, who has broken with presidential norms in refusing to publicize his returns since taking office.

The legislation now heads to an Assembly committee. If it passes the panel, it will likely be voted on by the full legislature before heading to Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy's desk.

A spokesman for Murphy declined to comment.

A similar measure passed the New Jersey legislature in 2017, but then-Gov. Chris Christie vetoed the legislation, blasting it as a "political stunt."

At least 30 other state legislatures have introduced similar legislation but the ballot restrictions have never been signed into law.

Taking another choice away from voters. Not okay! I can decide whether or not I choose to support a candidate (grime either party) if they don’t disclose tax returns. Don’t treat me like you’re smarter than me in a thinly veiled attempt to push some candidates out.

How is this not TREASON.

That's easy. Yes, the States run their elections and are fully in charge of them. By refusing to put a national candidate on their ballots, they excuse their whole State from all national positions, and only their in-state candidates votes will be counted.

An Unconstitutional law voids their right to participate.

'nuff said.

how about all legislators expose theirs as well?

Showing one's tax returns has never been and never will be a requirement to run for Office. If you think it is, show me in the Constitution where it says that.

STOP ALL FUNDS TO NJ.

And they accuse republicans of voter suppression.

Stopping all federal funds to states who use this method of voter suppression is an idea worth exploration.

I don't see a problem for the counter puncher. As mentioned above, the good president should cut off federal funds to this crappy state, like he is doing to colleges because of freedom of speech. Another thing I will say again, I do not care to see the man's tax returns or anyone else's. What good would it do for a person to see them when they don't even hardly understand their own. What he accomplished or failed at before we elected him does not matter, what matters is what he has done since taking the White House away from the fat failure of a democrat candidate. You know what she would say, "what difference does it matter" (not about his taxes though). She would be and is jealous of President Donald J. Trump's success.

It is treason I agree it is not for us to question he would not be president if this hadn't been done but he doesn't have to justify himself to the Democrats. They let Obama run even though he never proved himself to be a US citizen to this day his birth certificate is still in question what say you to that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those states electoral college votes aren't going to go to him anyway. If the voters of those states allow it, they are letting their politicians dictate who they can vote for (or against). Sounds like social;ism, or worse, Communism.

Mr Cory Booker state, enough said.

Against the law. Not in Constitution as requirement. The Communists will do anything they can to destroy President Trump. Sue the States NOW...

Then New Jerseys electoral votes shouldn't count-simple as that

Anonymous said...

yea, well if another party candidate didn't release them, you'd have your nuts in a wad
