Trey Gowdy: 'I wish Chief Justice Roberts were right' about politicized judges

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., all but endorsed President Trump's view that the judiciary is politicized on Sunday.

Last week Trump engaged in a public back-and-forth with Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who rebuked the president's assertion that a "Obama judge" ruled against his border policy. “We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges,”Roberts said in an extraordinary statement.

Gowdy, a former federal prosecutor, said he wished he could agree with Roberts.

Obviously don't agree with the judge. These judges are appointed by the President. Does he really think that a judge appointed by Obie would pass muster under Trump. Give me a break.

Trey all talk and no action. Really good at cross examination but then does nothing with the results. Clinton punked him into retirement.

In an ideal world, which this isn't, judges everywhere would rule on the basis of the written law and appropriate written regulation. We would see fewer flights of fancy from the bench.

Laws can be easily changed when there is compelling reason. Congress, legislatures and local councils are frequently in session and generally lend an ear to what the majority of citizens share concerns about.

Perhaps we should administer judges like the English soccer leagues. A reversal of your opinion is a 'loss' and after a certain number of losses the judge is down graded to the next lower rank of judiciary, with loss of pay, etc. If this were enacted, most of the 9th Circuit would be running Traffic Court in a few years.

Justice Roberts needs to get his subordinates back on the straight and narrow.
