Thousands of adult hackers attend the convention annually, while this year a group of children attempted to hack 13 imitation websites linked to voting in presidential battleground states.
The boy, who was identified by DEFCON officials as Emmett Brewer, accessed a replica of the Florida secretary of state’s website. He was one of about 50 children between the ages of 8 and 16 who were taking part in the so-called “DEFCON Voting Machine Hacking Village,” a portion of which allowed kids the chance to manipulate party names, candidate names and vote count totals.

Can he help me program my phone?
The reason this is the case is becasue the govt thinks they are untouchable and that they are ("THE GOVT" in a god voice) and think no one would dare try to hack them, becasue they "ARE THE GOVT" and most average people like all of you, think becasue they "ARE THE GOVT" you and others would not try to do such things like hacking...
Just like how Jeep didn't put encryption in their vehicles whom had wifi cell connections and didn't think someone could or would hack an open network and take control of your jeeps computer... But it was hacked too...
More proof that paper ballots counted by hand are the safest way to go. Our very freedoms and country are at stake, it is to important to ignore.
DNC operatives were waiting outside to recruit.
Good thing 11 year olds can't vote! /sarc
