~High School Winner to be Awarded $2,500 Scholarship~
Owings Mills, MD – The Maryland Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS), announced the new Students of the Year Program on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for the 2018-2019 school year. LLS is seeking Maryland high school students who are enthusiastic about volunteerism, philanthropy, community outreach and leadership to participate in the Students of the Year fundraising competition.
LLS’s Students of the Year is an exciting leadership development and philanthropy program in which high school students raise funds to invest in research to advance lifesaving treatments and cures for blood cancer patients. Every dollar raised counts as one vote. The candidates/teams who raise the most money at the end of the seven-week competition earn the title Student(s) of the Year.
As the world’s largest non-profit health organization dedicated to finding cures and ensuring access to treatments for all blood cancer patients, LLS relies on its flagship fundraising campaigns to generate funds for its mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Students of the Year is for motivated high school students, and this program ensures they stand out among their peers when engaging with colleges and/or future employers. Through guidance and mentoring from experienced professionals at LLS they will make a real impact in the fight against blood cancers.

Wilson Executive Director of LLS’s Maryland Chapter. “Every student who participants has the power to save lives, and bring additional awareness on the Eastern Shore to help blood cancer patients. This is an incredible Campaign for students to make a big impact on our mission, and we are thrilled to be bringing this program to the Eastern Shore for those students to participate.”
The Baltimore area version of the Students of the Year Campaign is now in its 5th year, raising a record breaking $585,000 last year, and featured the 2018 National Campaign winning team, Samir and Saar Shah from St. Mary’s County, MD. LLS Also holds a very successful Man & Woman of the Year Campaign on the Eastern Shore, based out of Cambridge, Maryland.
This year’s Student of the Year Eastern Shore campaign will kick off on February 16 and will culminate in a Grand Finale Gala on April 6, 2019 which will include a reception, silent auction and awards presentation.
Potential candidates must submit an application consisting of 4 essay questions.

WTF wrote that stupid statement?? There is no such thing as "Salisbury High School" Students? The last time I checked Jake Day didn't fund the Wicomico County Board of Education!!
