Drunk driver who killed a Chesapeake teen, critically injured her friend sentenced to 47 years

There haven’t been many occasions for joy among the families of Kaitlyn Duffy and Sabrina Mundorff over the past 16 months.

That’s how long it’s been since a drunk driving crash took the life of Duffy, 18, and left Mundorff with injuries and scars – both physical and emotional – that her family says will haunt her for the rest of her life.

But on Monday, both families embraced and cried tears of joy after a Circuit Court judge handed down the maximum sentence of 47 years to Jerode Demetrius Johnson.

Sounds good, but with time suspended, and good behavior credit, double bunking credit, will be out in 7 years.
