A Viewer Writes: No Folking Money Beggars

Looks like no one wants to beg for money during the festival.
They currently have more than 410 slots unfilled for volunteers.

Publishers Notes: If you'll recall, the Salvation Army went through to exact same situation until Salisbury News came along and immediately filled every open slot for a month.

It never ceases to amaze me just how many commercials and free advertising this event has received from the local media and yet with ALL of their help they can't seem to help fill a 3 day event, now that's funny.

It should be noted that much of the funds this event raised was what they call, "IN KIND DONATIONS". That means no real money traded hands and most everyone else, (you and I) would call it bartering. You know, free pizza for volunteers, free commercials, all for major write off's. But your local media isn't going to tell you the TRUTH behind this massive failure of an event. Enjoy sitting on goose sh!t.

So when will you begin "free speech"?

Don't worry the beggers will be out in force harrasing people.

I belong to a non profit and when we want to advertise we have tp pay for it, so how did they get so much free advertising? Maybe we need to ask that question the next time these radio stations are begging for our advertising dollars.

9:55- You confuse free speech with truth. Also, WTF? This whole blog is about one's free speech! Are you stupid, or something?

I'm really looking forward to the festival. There's a lot to pull together in just three days remaining, but it'll come together. There are going to be great food vendors, local artists and a lot of performers from all sorts of different genres.

It's so tacky to heavily advertise something as free and then have people going around with buckets asking for money. Put a darn money box and let people go up to it to put in a donation if they want but to what amounts to bugging people for money is so obnoxious.

Just did a quick search to see if there were hotels rooms available. From the looks of it all the hotels have availability for the dates of the festival. The only one I found that was sold out was the one right there downtown. Can you imagine if you book a hotel between downtown and the car dealerships on 13 thinking that it will be a short walk to the festival. Those poor people don't know the danger they will be in walking down 13 in the area, day or night! Walk down unsafe streets so you can sit in goose poop. My kind of fun!........not really.

I`ll wager that a good number of those volunteers will have a "family emergency" and won`t show up for their appointed shift. LOL

And lots of thugs and homeless laying in wait.

Looks like a good chance for thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. How are they gonna handle that?

The thugs are rubbing their hands awaiting the snowflakes arrival.

12:11, that's what they're praying for. That way when only 15k people show up over the 3 days, Day will get up there and say what a huge success it was and that it would have been even more successful if it hadn't rained. He'll state that the attendance would have been closer to the (newest number he's throwing around) 30k people they were expecting.

Would not go anywhere near this overblown, waste of tax dollars event. Other than having money taken out of my pocket for taxes, I don't care.

PLEASE, PLEASE don't let it rain on Jake the Jerk festival, that will be his reasoning for the poor crowds.

It’s all going to be fine bunch of damn cry babies. Who cares about the thugs who cares about the bums. I’m me and I do and go where I please and glad it’s close to home.
