WBOC Refuses To Tell Its Viewers What The Developer Paid For Riverfront Property In Downtown Salisbury

While there are numerous details WBOC flat out refused to express, Mayor Day and Council President Jack Heath sold two waterfront lots in Downtown Salisbury for a total of $20,000.00. Even though the developer offered $125,000.00, some how, some way Day and Heath lowered their offer, yet the public was unaware that they too could've made offers and the Good Ol' Boys got away with yet another land grab.

So let's look at some of the details I had expressed over a week ago HERE. I personally think one of the key details ignored by WBOC was the contract for the "Beer Garden". The developer signed off stating they would be up and running by August 31st 2018. IMPOSSIBLE! There is no way you can deliver plans and get them approved by then. Let alone construction and ultimately permits from the Health Department, not going to happen. Anyone who has had to deal with the Liquor Board knows there's no way the plans, (accepted) can be advertised soon enough to get a license by then as well.

Then again, this is the Eastern Shore and we'll have to keep a very close eye on the outcome of this matter. Your local media is not fair and balanced. They simply want to ease you into what they perceive and fluff news, as if this is a really great thing. Did WBOC research the possibility that the City at some point may have used "Project Open Space" back in the day on these lots? If in fact the City did so, they CANNOT sell these lots. That's what they would've agreed to when they purchased and redeveloped these lots.

Clearly you cannot trust what you are being fed by WBOC. Obviously they found out about this story from Salisbury News, yet they did very little to expose the true details. Especially what the developer offered to purchase the property for and ultimately what Day and Heath agreed to reduce that offer and give away taxpayer owned property.

More to come...

Sounds like the permitting process will be rigged in order for them to meet the deadline.

Food Trucks on site by end of Aug?

We need to make the DOJ aware of this.

What do you need for a beer garden other than a beer truck, some picnic tables, string lights, a boom box and a few 55 gallon drum trash cans? Oh, yeah, and an open air license.

All these lots are being sold off as "mixed use". that's code for; I'll promise the city everything and deliver nothing. The daily times said another 10,000 dollar lot got "mixed use" restrictions changed and now it'll be a hotel! Talk about a hand out!

I'm sure they are trying to get this up and running for the hoards of people coming into Salisbury for the National Folk Festival. It looks like it will be a huge success especially since their is availability at ALL the local hotels for that weekend except for Laquinta inn. I guess the thousands and thousands of people coming to town for the folk festival are all sleeping in their cars.

Saw the Woodchuck on TV blathering about higher usages for the properties. He's not in touch with reality.

2 & 3 bedroom apartments beside the ditch at 'affordable rents'? They'll be taking vouchers for payment. People with good jobs and careers don't choose the city to live in; that's why he got elected. The productive class lives in the county. No way they can provide enough parking for tenants plus build the apartments. Woodchuck & crew expect everyone to ride a freebie bike to work, shop, etc. Wait until winter when he can't get the streets clear!

And a beer garden by the river? That will be vibrant when? How late each day? Just more junk in the river. But handy to the open air drug market he's tucked in across the river.

If somebody would take the interest and people that lived in Salisbury and the kids and a young families they would build a water park that they can make money on and people could have fun instead of spending high price money for a high price places that people cannot afford in Salisbury does anybody remember to Lexus dealer to come to Salisbury and they could not sell any cars here because the people did not make enough money this is what this mare is trying to do make it little bottom or he just don't understand the people cannot afford stuff in Maryland but then again he don't have to worry about it he did not have to worry about his family they are taking care of the poor people in Salisbury want to know why that they cannot have something nice but yeah the city wants to spend more and more money on places that people cannot afford to live at it just a shame that this town has gone to pot since I've lived here all my life I'm 64 years old I have never seen it this way Salisbury used to be a place where you could go to the park on the 4th of July the Salisbury said it would sponsor it and they had fun for all it's just not worth anything anymore because it's so much crime and Salisbury because nobody will take the initiative to do anything all they want to do is spend more money

Don’t forget they tried to sell a piece of land with the firehouse deal that was open space bought. They then had to take it out of the contract and redo the whole sale..

Follow the money.
Then hang EVERY ONE INVOLVED.
Taxpayers got screwed in royal fashion by their "representatives" and the people who are involved are already very wealthy. They didn't need a "deal".
I'm serious. Drag them into the street and hang them.
The media? Specially protected by the Constitution so as to keep the citizenry informed and the politicians in check, have been as successful at that duty as a monkey stranded in the control room of a nuclear submarine....
Keep cheering.

Reminds me of the old saying "putting lipstick on a pig" or in this case the "shithole of the Shore."

And we better look under the table on this public scam.
