AMA President Cheers Group’s Jump into Gun Control Advocacy

The president of the American Medical Association (AMA) expressed support over the weekend for proposals that would expand the group's advocacy for new gun control laws.

Dr. David O. Barbe, president of the group, told Forbes that he believes gun violence is a matter of public health and that wide-ranging policies are needed to address it.

"Gun violence in America today is a public health crisis, one that requires a comprehensive and far-reaching solution," he said. "This is an important issue, as demonstrated by an unprecedented number of gun violence prevention proposals that physicians have submitted for discussion during the upcoming AMA policy-making meeting."

Forbes reported that the AMA's House of Delegates will consider adopting a number of gun control positions at their upcoming annual meeting June 9 through June 13. Banning so-called "assault weapons" and "high capacity" magazines as well as banning ownership of any firearms by adults under 21-years-old are among the positions being considered. Barbe said he believes AMA members want to use their "considerable political muscle" to pass new gun control measures.

Guess docs aren't all that smart either.
Gun control isn't going to sto gun violence.
Violent people will still get guns you idiots.

The only time I want a DOCTOR to have anything at all to do with my guns is when he asks me what caliber weapon did I use to blow the right arm off the guy who thought he could sneak into my house at 3am.
Just like I don't need an ACTOR to tell me ANYTHING about the world, I don't need a DOCTOR to help make me defenseless against the people to whom 1:07 referred.
They live in gated communities with the latest security. They know about as much about normal life of the middle class as David Rockefeller.
WHY are they so intent on disarming us????

Gun control alone will not stop ...correct.
But it is one of many things , which includes gun control

AMA should allow and make FDA approve drugs faster that would cure diseases rather than the toxic drugs that control people. They should also release generic drugs as soon as they are developed instead of 10 years later. I forgot that is where they get their kickback money from. This is the reason they don't want to cure a disease. Guns is not a disease Mental Health is but they don't understand that with all their degrees.

Gun control is one of many things, which include gun control?? Nonsensical.

The only gun control we need is a firm grip and good sight picture. Anything else is an exercise in futility.
