$28,166: What It Costs To Provide Health Care For An American Family Of Four For One Year

Families all over the country are being absolutely crushed by extremely high health insurance premiums

One of the primary reasons why the middle class in America is disappearing so rapidly is because of skyrocketing health care costs.

Families all over the country are being absolutely crushed by extremely high health insurance premiums, ridiculously high deductibles and very large out-of-pocket expenses that were not anticipated. In fact, medical bills are the number one reason why individuals go bankrupt in the United States today. Once upon a time, the medical profession was all about helping people, but today it has become a heartless money-making operation that is dominated by health insurance corporations and pharmaceutical companies. If we do not make major changes quickly, our out of control health care system will destroy the middle class in our country all by itself.

I knew that health care costs were astronomical, but I had no idea that health care costs for an average family of four for one year had hit $28,166

The living wage in the United States was $15.12 per hour in 2015, before taxes for a family of four (two working adults, two children).

The numbers haven't changed that much, so a yearly living wage income would be about $60,000 for the four. After Obamacare payments, that leaves $32,000 for food, housing, utilities, transportation, insurance, etc.

Taking half of a family's income for health insurance is theft by government.

When will people understand that health *insurance* is not the same as health *care*? The major cost is the insurance component which is padded by middlemen, benefits managers, and profits to all concerned.

This has to be 3x the cost spent in reality, paying everyone a great wage.

Ask the 15,000 government overseers why the costs are so high. They won't tell you because it would cost them their jobs.

The corporations have control of the government. Government power (mandatory purchase if health insurance) is being used to increase corporate profits.

The definition of Facism.

8:38pm About 11 million people are on obamacare in the US out of 300 million + people. Obamacare is like assigned risk auto insurance. It is for people that don't or can't get insurance through traditional means such as an employer or group plan. Healthcare is expensive because of lawyers, risk insurance and greedy medical companies. A pill that is $30 per pill here is $1-3 per pill in Canada or Mexico or Costa Rica. Same pill - name brand.

My healthcare started at $5k a year before Oscam-acare. In 2016 when I stopped buying it the bill was $14K. Two years now no health insurance. To top that scam off, I get charged MORE by providers because I have no healthcare.

I have this F-everyone attitude when it comes to the medical community.

I paid $200 to see some jerk over at POA that did absolutely NOTHING for me. Biggest #@&^$&# I have met. I was warned and did not listen.

Go over the bridge and save yourself the anguish of dealing with the jerks and uneducated here.
