City of Salisbury's Youth Development Advisory Committee
On March 24, 2018, a network of community organizations and churches, known as 50ksouls, will be handing out food boxes to about 50 homes near the new community center on Truitt St. They will also be conducting surveys for a new community initiative focused on making Salisbury beautiful and united. They’ve been hard at work collecting food since the beginning of the month and they could use your help!
Starting today, we are asking you to help us by contributing anything you can to this amazing initiative. Check out the preferred food items list below and begin collecting as we work toward distribution day!

Wish I were one of the 50 getting a food box. I can only find part time work and only buy groceries twice a month because I don't have enough money. After rent and heat there is not much left. Thank the lord for Sams club $5 roasted chickens - my neighbor takes me on her card.
They also get tons of donated school supplies and I have to buy my kids stuff!
I quit giving money to charities. I figure they will get what they need from the government anyway. Let the government go more in debt while I enjoy my own cash (less what the government sucks out of me). Let the future generation (aka snowflakes) pay the debt. They deserve it.
@6:51 totally agree! Its sad today and the recipient's take advantage of others compassion. When did it become everyone else's responsibility to provide for everyone else's kids. Mandatory birth control
There will always be hungry people. Others will always be called upon to feed them. It's been that way since before history. Be glad if you're among those who are called.
I have quit all donating, charity begins at home!
All the while the hard working taxpayers having difficulty paying their own bills have to foot this bill and watch these thugs eat better than us.
It seems to me that the free food only frees up some money for the latest Chuck Taylor's.
As for the "there will always be the hungry...

I, and many others, don't mind at all giving to the poor, helping the needy, and assisting the weak and defenseless.
However, when the "hungry people" show up in tricked out Crown Vic's and wearing enough gold to beat you to death with it, and they COME BACK LATER for more, well, I'm going to have an bad attitude.
keep cheering.
I agree with ALL comments above.
It's another Fake Day Pizza party.
When Jesus Christ fed the multitudes, I don't recall Him asking for photo id or ebt cards. He just fed people.
You said it, 7:44am. I'm sick and tired of them taking advantage of freebies too. Ever wonder why some of them park so far away from the grocery store or wal mart? So no one sees them get into their new car. I have seen women that work in the hospital, shopping in grocery stores and pay for their groceries with that welfare card they all seem to have. The hospital pays good, so why do they have those cards? You cannot afford to raise all those kids you keep pumping out, then stop having them and expecting others to pay for them. Going to the welfare office and crying about not being able to give your kids what they want. Live within your means. Lousy moochers.
