Nine states are planning to implement work requirements for their Medicaid enrollees, following Kentucky, which on Friday became the first place in the country to be approved to create such a program.
Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Utah, and Wisconsin have submitted their own proposals, though some will have to work with federal officials to make sure their requests fit the guidelines laid out Thursday by the Trump administration. States have varying requests, according to a Washington Examiner review of Medicaid waiver requests filed to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
For instance, Indiana, which said it expects its waiver will be approved in the coming days, allows an English as a Second Language class to meet the education requirement. In Arkansas, taking a class for 20 hours a year on healthy living or health insurance would go toward the requirement.
Maine requires 20 hours of work or community involvement, while Kentucky and Indiana don't have any requirements for the first three months of coverage and gradually require more work the longer someone is on Medicaid. Nearly all state proposals appeared to make exemptions for caregivers.

disgusting this never should have not existed in the 1st place. To think I work my a** off everyday to pay my medicare and medicaid taxes. only to have some friggen nobody come along and take it what's gonna be left for me when I retire or if I ever needed it. this is what pisses us off this is why we voted for trump
Require AND provide?
I'm a senior citizen. It would not make a difference to me as far as getting it or not. But with the experiments I'm reading about that are being done, with food stamps. The complete lack of ability to know who does and does not need these benefits. The cost of vetting will be more than letting the programs continue. And many people who need these benefits to in fact live, are going to be neglected.
This is a bad road they are going down.
Just enforces my "can't wait to vote democrat" in 2018. I've voted GOP for 42 years. They have completely failed me. No longer.
6:56 Finally, an enlightened individual. The cost of administering these requirements typically outweighs the savings. It is interesting that the republicans that scream for smaller, less intrusive government want to swell the government payroll by hiring more people to avoid paying some benefits. We are talking about medical care. Half of you couldn't accurately explain what Medicaid or Medicare is and the difference between the two.
Nothing in life is free...stop whinning..even if the free loaders paid thirty to 200.00 dollars a year that would help reduce taxes for working people and cover some costs..i think most of these flat screen owning people can dig up that kind of cash for health care..stop being greedy my family all works to pay for you.
And just when is someone going to be able to retire? What about senior citizens who have worked their entire lives and paid in to the system? They should be bale to get it without STILL working the rest of their life away. Require the welfare individuals who have been getting it most of their lives and never worked a day in their life. I always did wonder why white people always stopped and paid for their care in a doctors office and the blacks just walked right on out the door. We the working people paid for it. Just not right.
