Larry Hogan announces changes to Vehicle Emissions Inspections Program
Governor Larry Hogan announced more improvements to the Vehicle Emissions Inspections Program Friday.
New improvements to the program would extend the amount of time before owners of new vehicles must get a new inspection, and eliminate the requirement for pre-1996 light-duty vehicles.
Effective January 1, 2018, owners of new vehicles will not have to get their vehicles tested for 3 years instead of 2. This is expected to save residents more than $2 million a year.
Also, the inspection requirement will be eliminated altogether for all pre-1996 light-duty vehicles. That means 24,000 drivers will now be exempt.

I dont understand. I have never had my new vehicle emissions tested. New vehicles dont need to be.
Delaware residents can get their vehicles for FREE anytime they want.
What about those who rent vehicles for 2 years that they write off on their taxes. No admission fees at all now that it is 3 yesterday policy
It was always a big pain when I lived in Montgomery County. I was pleasantly surprised when I moved here and found out I didn’t have to have an emission test anymore.

What is the reason the eastern shore does not have to do this? I am not complaining, just curious.
Not enough people to make it worth the time and money to test vehicles. It is coming to the eastern shore sooner rather than later.
