Cuomo told CNN that Republicans had said: “Let’s pillage the blue [states] to give to the red.”
Currently, the SALT deduction allows federal taxpayers to deduct the taxes they pay to state and local authorities from their federally taxable income. That has insulated wealthy taxpayers in high-tax states (typically governed by Democrats) from the profligacy of their state and local governments, because they have been able to share the burden of paying for those high taxes with everyone else in the country, to the tune of nearly $100 billion in 2015.
That has led Cuomo and California’s Governor Jerry Brown to attack the new tax law.

The federal government should not be in the business of subsidizing property taxes. You know how many billions of dollars this costs the federal gov't?

You still get a credit up to $10,000. I pretty certain the number of people on the shore that pay more than 10K is not that large.
3:05 There are plenty. They are real republicans with money and expensive waterfront/OC homes. They might just end up paying more taxes due to loss of deductions and lower % rate on higher taxable amount. The tax bill lowered the rate but raised the amounts in each bracket. Most people are not smart enough to look at big picture versus the soundbite of lower tax brackets.
