President Donald Trump renewed a call for the Senate to remove the filibuster rule, calling it a "death sentence" for Republican policy.
"It's a disaster, OK. It's a disaster for the Republicans. They have to get rid of it. If they don't get rid of it, it's just a death sentence," Trump said in an interview clip with Mike Huckabee released Friday.
The filibuster is "absolutely crazy," the president said.
The filibuster imposes a 60-vote requirement for many bills to pass in the Senate. Trump has called for it to be done away with before, including in August, when he said "few bills will be passed" if Republicans do not remove the rule.
