A Letter to the Editor 9-23-17 Gender Neutral Cap & Gowns

I just got our weekly phone call and an email from my child's high school principal.

Apparently the Wicomico County Board of Education has caved in to political correctness. It appears High Schools are going all Gender Neutral on graduation night so they don't offend a few freaks of nature. They will have only one cap and gown and they will be making the kids wear both school colors on their caps and gowns instead of girls wearing white and boys wearing green.

Girls wearing one color and boys wearing another color has been a national tradition since the beginning of graduations. What the Hell is going on in this County. Who the Hell approved this!!

Here is a copy of the statement on the Gender Neutral caps and gowns.

Good evening RamFam!

This is Kimberly Pinhey, Parkside Principal bringing you the RAM News for September 25, 2017.

Even though we are just starting the school year we are already planning for senior events such as graduation. The first Senior Parent meeting will take place Wednesday, September 27 at 6:00 p.m. in the Parkside Auditorium and Jostens will be here on Tuesday, October 24, for senior orders. For your information, Wicomico high schools will be moving to one gown style for all students this year that will encompass both of our school colors, green and white. Jostens is aware of this and will be able to assist seniors with any questions they may have about their senior order. Please assure students the orders will be processed correctly and they need to get these orders in early to avoid the increased fees associated with later orders each year.

Why not require Al Jolson makeup so everybody can be the same color? Makes just as much sense.

Never should have required a GED for the BOD!

Line up lemmings.

Everyone being the same is NOT diversity. Must be a new PC rule. Any statues ge with it?

All high schools , not just Parkside

What a joke. These clowns are educating our children. Is it any wonder.

What a bunch of snowflakes! Who approved this crazy decision of everyone wearing the same colors? I thought it was very appropriate to have the girls in white and the guys in green.....am I missing something?
So glad that I don't have kids going through the school system in this county anymore!

Why not still have the 2 colors and just let a girl wear the green if she feels masculine or a boy could wear white if he feels feminine. It's personal choice, just like their sexual orientation. They don't have to consolidate it all into one gown for all and have the change affect everyone.

I wonder if these idiots will make the girls sit with the boys and call them all up in alphabetical order. It's always been a tradition to call up the girls one row at a time and then the boys one row at a time. This is freaking scary! They are forcing same sex marriage and "it's Ok to be gay" on our children. We must fight back.

I am going to buy my children the gender appropriate colors to where when it is time for them to graduate. If they deny my children their God given right to walk across that stage with their classmates I will sue each and everyone of them. Ms. Pinhey, Ms. Hanlin and you idiots at the Board of Education you are put on notice!

I'm thinking green and white plaid. Nope, racist. Green and white stripes. Nope, racist.
Okay, it's settled. Green and white tie dyed gowns and caps.

That's a good question. I would like to know who decided this? Anyone willing to attend the BOE meeting with me?

Will kids get a discount for all wearing the same Unusually discounts are given for buying in bulk. Can probably get a huge discount by changing all graduation classes in all schools to the tie dye look that 10:15 AM makes reference to - in a one size fits all in cap and gown

I really don't know how much more stupid the BOE can get. This is just ridiculous.

10:15, you are an IDIOT!! Are you serious with this “God given right to walk across that stage?” That is the most idiotic statement I have heard in a long time. Not to mention..you have NO rights let alone “God given rights”. What you have is a set of “privileges” that have been extended to you by the government and can be revoked at ANY time. Wow. “God given right...” what a mindless sheep.

Comments above are silly. Gender neutral was not part of the message. Just giving parents a Heads Up that a change was going to occur. Probably a cost savings all-around by having only one style of gown to order and inventory. Instead of alternating rows of boys and girls they can be seated alphabetically within the entire class which could make for a shorter ceremony. Lastly, they've all studied the same subjects and will receive identical diplomas.

Get a real problem!

All they had to do was allow the students to pick between green and white. Its called choice.

12:41 you are ridiculous and part of the problem. Your theory clearly lacks individualism.

Yes, 10:15 is an idiot. I could tell that by their writing. They said they were going to “buy my children the gender appropriate colors to where”. It’s WEAR!! Then they said they would “sue each and everyone of them”. It’s “each and every one of them”. As you are directing the comment at individuals, everyone is separated into “every one”. Then they close with “Ms. Pinhey, Ms. Hanlin and you idiots at the Board of Education you are put on notice”. Please learn grammar and sentence structure. Maybe YOU shouldn’t have been granted your “God given right” to graduate with your atrocious English skills.

Another snow flake grammar Nazi. Big deal, I'm sure you make those typos all the time.

Yeah right it ll b just as high as it always been, if not higher. This shh is stupid. Nothing wrong w/ the traditional way. Instead of focusing on that bs. How about improving much needed areas of education and environment like separating good students from those who cause chaos and effect the learning environment of others.

Thank your teacher.Today if it kind of looks like good grammar or the answers in the ballpark on a math problem,it's acceptable. Wouldn't want to trigger someone.

Who cares? Are they giving out Girls diplomas and Boys diplomas? NO. They are giving out diplomas.

Justify why girls and boys have to wear differing colors with a reasoned logical argument. Until then it makes sense that if they are getting the same diploma, that they wear the same gown and hat.

Seriously. Gowns and Hats. Why do we wear this ridiculous mess anyway.

Humans, are so stupid.

Just some more dumb crap coming from our children's educators.
