How many customers are out at 5-6 am waiting to tip the delivery driver? Really?

Plus tips??? Who in their right mind tips real money to receive the Daily Times?

$600 to $1,200 per month is $20 to $40 per day, GROSS! Then you have to buy gasoline, have wear and tear on your car, etc. What a deal! Where do I sign up?

When I was in elementary school I had a paper route and I had to get up every morning like around 3 am. People were never home when I went to collect for my paper route so I always lost money.

My mother took a large paper route and delivered by car. Like me she had to get the bundles of news papers what were wrapped in steel twine so we needed a wire cutter to cut the steel. The outside of the papers in the bundles were destroyed so we had to pay for those. We also had to fold every single one of those papers. If it rained we were required to buy plastic bags and put the newspapers in there before we delivered them. My mother had the same issues with people not paying. Both of us occasionally got tips but it was rare. Don't fall for that Bullsh!t.

My mother lost a lot of her savings with that paper route and eventually had to quit because the Daily Times was billing my mother for THEIR customers who refused to pay their bills. She almost went bankrupt because of the Daily Times and the customers that didn't pay their bills.

**The Daily Times told us where to deliver the news papers so we didn't have the option of not delivering them to customers who didn't pay their bills.

Fair Warning!! Do not get a paper route with the Daily Times, you will be SCREWED!! They don't care about you.

Independent Contractors:

Translation = we don't actually want you as an employee and on our payroll. We don't want to pay matching social security and medicare payroll taxes on your wages. We don't want to pay state and federal unemployment taxes on your wages, like every other business. We don't want to offer you any type of benefits, such as health care, paid vacations or sick leave, short term disability, 401K, etc.

With our generous $600 to $1,200 monthly "gross revenue", we want you to pay for all of those things.

The reason why its subcontracted. Less liability for the paper. Ruins your car your back and wallet. For a 365 day job. Most dont tip enough and mileage pay barely covers gas.

One of the worst jobs you could ever have! I also did this for about 6 months. Getting up early,(and hopefully the papers show up on time) this is a everyday job (including holidays). You don't make enough money to make it worth the time and aggravation.

11:25 AM Actually if someone had the balls to sue, the job and its responsibilities do not meet the actual criteria of a subcontractor. could be a big payout for someone.

ALso - if your car is not insured to be used for business, they won't cover the accident.

Tip? What?
These people need to realize they are delivering a couple pages of stories that were news 24 to 72 hours before they deliver it. Only reason the paper comes here is for sale papers and coupons. And obituaries. and Only wed. and sun. which will likely end soon also.
