PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Pepsi is pulling 2-liter bottles and 12-packs of its products from Philadelphia grocery store shelves over the city's new tax on sweetened drinks.
The company says it wants to offer products and package sizes working families can better afford.
The 1.5-cent-per-ounce tax on sweetened and diet beverages is imposed at the distributor level. If fully passed on to the consumer it amounts to $1.44 on a six-pack of 16-ounce bottles.
The company's decision affects sodas including Pepsi and Mountain Dew and other sweetened drinks like Gatorade and Lipton Iced Tea.
Democratic Mayor Jim Kenney's office says the industry was trending toward smaller sizes well before the tax passed.

I already buy my groceries from Food Lion in Delmar and B J's warehouse club. My furniture in Delaware and my Lawn equipment. I already pay thousands of dollars in taxes in Maryland from income tax, property tax, flush tax, fees for landfill and I have double taxation and a penalty because my wife works in Delaware and we live in Maryland! I get ripped off each year from this state, then soon afterward, I get hit up with renewal for vehicle registration fees, Landfill renewal fee, and in June a F**King property tax bill!!! Over 2500 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ten years to retirement and plan to sell my Maryland home and get the hell out of this state!

So True!
And I watch this show on TV called "My 600lb Life" and these people gorge on tons of food. Tons of fast food and sodas in 5 gallon buckets. Then they get to the point that they are so fat that they can't get out of their own bed and their family members keep feeding them tons of food. They run out to the fast food joint and come back with large bags of food and it looks like they just got done grocery shopping for the week but it is for Chubby.
Most people that are that Obese can blame no one but themselves and their loved ones. They are killing themselves.
We are an obese country because of tons of sugar in everything we eat. Every time we go to a fast food restaurant they want us to "Supersize" and most of the times it is cheaper and we end up eating all of it.
