With 26 Days Left In Session, Legislators Should Act on Governor Hogan's Maryland-Focused Legislative Initiatives
“There are only 26 more days for the legislature to pass legislation and to reach agreement on a budget. The Lt. Governor and I began this year by introducing a robust agenda of 34 important, common sense, bipartisan initiatives to Change Maryland for the Better. We urged members of the General Assembly to put aside partisanship and to work together with us to continue making progress for our state.” - Governor Larry Hogan, March 15, 2017 |
Governor Larry Hogan has put forward a robust, bipartisan legislative package focused on improving the lives of all Marylanders. This 2017 agenda includes 29 legislative proposals and five budgetary actions that offer real, common sense solutions to the issues that are most important to the state, including transportation infrastructure, economic development and job creation, education, and environmental protection.
With just 26 days left in this year’s legislative session, the Hogan administration and the General Assembly have the opportunity to continue Changing Maryland for the Better.
While many of the governor’s legislative proposals are moving forward, some very important ones are not moving forward and the clock is ticking.
In particular, the governor has called for the General Assembly to take action on the following bills, which at this point their status seems uncertain, or even worse they are hidden in a drawer:
Public Integrity Act of 2017Legislative Transparency Act of 2017Redistricting Reform Act of 2017Liquor Board Reform Act of 2017Common Sense Paid Leave ActStudent Debt Relief Act of 2017
There are just 26 days left in this session and the governor is calling on the legislature to work together with the administration and get it done.
Below is a status report on the governor’s proposed legislation and where each item stands in the legislative process.
