Fracking opponents want statewide ban in Md.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Opponents of fracking have taken their fight to Annapolis to try to get a ban before a moratorium ends later this year.

Demonstrators rallied in front of the Maryland State House this week, as Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan issued his State of the State address.

Paul Roberts with Citizen Shale, a group that opposes fracking, lives in Friendsville, a community in Western Maryland. He said fracking was a danger, not a plus, for the Western Maryland economy.

“We have an existing, vibrant tourism economy, clean jobs, small business — the lifeblood of business in America,” Roberts said. “Fracking is, in fact, an anti-business solution.”

Fracking safe? Tell that to the citizens who are now living in an earth quake zone that didn't appear until fracking began.

Anything is OK until a problem arises. Let's see what the fracking problem is first. It may be solvable. Has anyone considered that?

Fracking is horrible and that drill sludge that they pump into the water table will be the final nail in our bays coffin.

How long have they been drilling for oil? They call that safe too but when BP dumped millions of barrels into the Gulf not only did they lie about how bad it was, the Government backed up that lie.
BP was able to keep everyone, including locals and reporters away from the water so they couldn't see how bad it was. They ignored court orders and continued dumping chemical dispersants in the water to hide the oil. They alone controlled who came to assist in clean up, because I signed up through every organization I knew of and they all went directly to BP. That way they could bring just a handful of outsiders and rope them into confidentiality agreements.
I am a Libertarian and I don't believe in government regulations but it is high time that the property owners put sustainability over short term profit. We have created a system where accumulating little wealth is worth selling your children and grandchildren into slavery, because that is what will exist when the elites control the last of the clean water, air and food.
