Volkswagen To Buy Back, Fix 83K 3.0-Liter Vehicles In Second “Dieselgate” Settlement
A day after reports surfaced that Volkswagen was in talks with federal regulators to reach a second $1 billion settlement stemming from its “dieselgate” scandal, the Environmental Protection Agency, along with the Department of Justice and state of California, announced a deal in which the carmaker will buy back or fix 83,000 3.0-liter VW, Audi, and Porsche vehicles equipped with so-called “defeat devices” that skirt federal emissions standards.

“Volkswagen exploited Californians seeking environmentally friendly vehicles, harming consumers and our environment in pursuit of profit,” AG Harris said in a statement.
I'll bet that the Californians who own these great mileage cars are happy with their purchases and would balk at any "fix" that would ruin their mileage in order to emit less than 1% less NO_ emissions! That's the problem the EPA has now.
So this article leads me to believe that VW will pay 2 billion dollars to settle these crimes. But where did VW get 2 billion dollars...oh, that's right, from all the people who bought VW's. And more importantly, from future purchasers of their products. So just know that if you own or buy one of VW's products you are paying in part for these fines. And not a single person has been fined personally for these EPA violations (crimes). Do what you want but I will never own another VW/Audi product.
Never had any desire to own a Volkswagen vehicle. Too ugly.
Will never own a Volkswagen because of their corrupt business practices. Too ugly.
VW, I hardly knew ye!
