Video shows deputy use taser on man, 91, at nursing home

Senior's family says incident weakened his heart, led to death 2 months later

(KSCH) Newly-released body-camera video captures the scene from March in which a deputy with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office tased a 91-year-old man with Alzheimer’s at a Minneapolis nursing home because the man wouldn’t get in a car to go to the doctor.

We first told you about the incident after it happened in March. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office has had it under investigation.

The original report from the incident is that the 91-year-old man was violent. But those who spoke with Eyewitness News Thursday after watching the video say they don’t see it that way.

That person should be fired.

He shot him in the back with the taser when he was in fear for his life and the safety of everyone in the building.

What a complete and utter a$$hat. The guy did't want to go to his doctor appointment. That struck that fear into the officers. O.M.G. How about you just walk away and he skips a doctor appointment
Is the Medicare money that important to the Home?

That officer killed him right there. you don't put 91 year old people through that trauma. Skipping a doctor appointment would not have killed the guy.

So glad the old guy did not have a dog....the dog would have been shot to death, cause the cops might get scared

So now anytime someone makes your job a little difficult you can tase them? Coward.
Do We really need cowards walking around with a license to kill?

Cops scared he would get violent? Did he have a gun or a knife? How violent can a 91 year old man get? That deputy needs to be fired and spend time in jail for assault.
