Man dupes Boy Scout with fake $100 bill

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS12) -- Police are looking for a man who ripped off a Boy Scout.

Twelve-year-old Riley Couture was selling snacks for his troop outside a Walmart in Ocala when a man came up to buy trail mix.

The man passed the boy a $100 bill. Riley gave him $80 in change, not knowing the $100 bill was fake.

Should have earned the Federal Reserve merit badge before being on cash box detail. Really, that is pretty low to rip off a kid.

whoever did this wasnt even that good of a thief. You could have bought the whole table from the kid

Missing the point...he didn't want trail mix, the thief wanted $80 in 20's that were real.

Hilarious that someone thought of taking the whole table of cookies instead of the 20's
LOL

That is great!

With any luck, he's on the store's front door surveillance tapes.

I am an Eagle Scout and was around before all these troops started doing the popcorn sales. We sold wreaths and poinsettias, for the same cost as you could get them in any department store and we delivered. The troop got to keep much more of the proceeds and our supporters got a great product at a good price. The popcorn is horrible and ridiculously over-priced. Someone in the higher ups at BSA got greedy when they saw the girl scout cookie money. If you are active in scouting PLEASE have your troop think twice before taking on BSA popcorn as a fundraiser. Even as a proud Eagle Scout I feel robbed when I buy it.

I doubt he was there alone. Afterall someone had to take the picture. You have to let kids do things on their own or they will never learn.

Why do you all assume the person that passed the 100 knew it was fake?

Easy mark and untraceable.
