(CNSNews.com) – The average regular cannabis consumer in Washington State spends about $645 per year on recreational weed, according to a reportfrom marijuana research company Headset.
The report, entitledCannabis Market Insights: What does the Average Marijuana Consumer Look Like? analyzed weed purchases made in Washington State, where marijuana is legal for recreational use.
The report looked at customers who were members of loyalty programs at weed dispensaries for at least one year, and found that “the median customer spends $645 on pot each year, and over 57 percent of customers spent more than $500.”
Meanwhile, 24.9 percent of loyal customers spent between $1000 and $2500 a year compared to 22.8 percent who spent between $500 and $1000, 13.3 percent who spent between $250 and $500, and 24 percent who spent less than $250.
Very few customers (9.7 percent) spent more than $2500 per year on weed.
The largest share of users (35.8 percent) spent between $25 and $50 during each trip to the marijuana dispensary. Another 28.7 percent spent between $10 and $25 per trip, and 21.2 percent spent between $50 and $100.
