Haris Qamar, 25, of Burke, Virginia, was born in 1990 in Brooklyn, New York. He lived with his parents, and wanted to go join ISIS – evening buying a plane ticket to Istanbul, Turkey in July 2014 – but his parents prevented it by taking his passport and birth certificate away from him.
According to a court affidavit, the FBI was first alerted to his support of ISIS by his Twitter posts in early 2015, in over 60 accounts that included the name “newerajihadi”. He posted photos of ISIS beheadings and terror photos, blood and dead bodies, and made many terror threats showing support for ISIS.
