4 Cases Of Legionnaires’ Disease Traced To Ocean City Condo

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) — Health officials say four cases of Legionnaires’ disease have been traced to an Ocean City condominium.

Worcester County Health Department spokeswoman Kathy Derr says the Golden Sands Condo was first linked last fall when health officials discovered two cases involving people who contracted the disease after staying there.

Derr says two additional cases were identified last month. None of the four cases have been fatal.

Legionnaires’ is a form of pneumonia, with symptoms including shortness of breath, headaches, coughing and fever. Health officials say the disease is spread through water containing legionella bacteria.
