Injuries or Deaths:  Mr. Hepperle was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) for smoke inhalation. Treated and later released.

Preliminary Cause: Accidental - due to owner falling asleep while smoking in bed
Additional Information:  Mr. Hepperle was able to escape after he and his dog discovered his bed on fire. Both were able to escape the home with Hepperle sustaining smoke inhalation. The home is considered a complete loss. Red Cross is assisting.

I always question the ridiculous $$ of loss. Where do they pull these stupid numbers from? They claim it a total loss and value the property at only 80K and his possessions only at 15K?

Did they inventory his possessions overnight?
