PIPE NEAR ROCKAWALKIN ROAD POSSIBLY COMPROMISED IN HEAVY RAIN; MINIMUM SEVERAL DAYS CLOSURE NEEDED AS HYDRAULICS TEAM EVALUATES
A section of MD 349 (Nanticoke Road) is closed between Oliver Drive and Rockawalkin Road just west of Salisbury as the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) investigates possible drain pipe damage following Tuesday’s heavy rains. The pipe connects Rockawalkin Creek with a pond on the north side of MD 349. The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of motorists, residents and workers, as well as expedite the repair. Engineers are evaluating the pipe and surrounding area, including a nearby earthen dam, to determine what repairs may be needed before the road can be reopened. The closure is expected to remain in place at least through the Independence Day holiday.
Motorists should use Rockawalkin Road and Levin Dashiell Road as detour routes.

Hep , I saw 4 minority state workers standing around with their eyes glued to the cell phones , work ? I wouldn't call it work. After doing my shopping the same 4 loafers were still on their phones 3 hrs. later , this was before the road closed. Ain't it great , Donnie Drewer you da man!
Just because you see workers at two points in time doesn't mean you know what they did in the intervening hours. There are many informative YouTube videos concerning highway repairs. They could have been consulting one of these videos.
Now crooked oak has become the autobahn detour. Drivers flying through doing 50+ in a 30. Hopefully it's fixed soon.
Good union employees. They could be replaced by shovels that can hold themselves up.
I doubt that all the new drain pipes installed on the newly repaved Rockawalkin Road had anything to do with this. Nothing like diverting more water into the pond directly rather than letting it seep in.
