72nd D-Day Anniversary: All Who Serve Are a Part of the Greatest Generation

Stop your average American on the street and ask them, “What happened on June 6?” Surprisingly, a few might recall that on a dreary morning while the low tide lapped lazily on the rocky coast of Normandy, France, brave men in battle armor no thicker than a khaki shirt grimly headed toward Hitler’s Atlantic Wall.

There is nothing special to mark the 72nd anniversary of the D-Day invasion during World War II. Nothing special—other than the men themselves.

That 18-year-old struggling up the steep bluffs of Omaha Beach while tracer rounds flashed overhead would be 90 years old now, eyes flickering, still alive with the memories of that unforgettable day.

About 73,000 Americans landed on the beaches on June 6, 1944. Almost 2,500 of our boys were killed.

Except Mohamned Ali.

Why is there never mention of the Red Cross women who were there before the fighting even stopped to render aid to wounded soldiers?

White have sacrificed disproportionately for the country.

"White have sacrificed disproportionately for the country."

There have always been more whites and for a long time white's who were pos would not allow blacks to fight for their country. (I saw some white pos using these letters to reference Ali.)

We have had many black heroes and the less said about their failure to fight for America the better.

As for Ali he was much more than a draft dodger. He could have gone and been treated like Elvis but he stood on his principles and he paid a stiff price.

Many a black, red, and brown person has fought for this country with honor. This country has not treated them with honor however. During the draft years of 'Nam the ratios taken from different races will stagger you when compared with the numbers in the general population.
I am an old white man not afraid of the truth. We are still the greatest country on earth.
