Two Killed In Queen Anne’s County Plane Crash

(Stevensville, MD) – Two people are pronounced deceased at the scene of a plane crash near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Emergency service responders pronounced the pilot and the passenger of a Vans RV12 single engine plane, deceased after their plane crashed shortly before 1:00 p.m. today. The identities of the two victims are being withheld, pending next of kin notification.

The preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred in an open field near the Ellendale Manor community in Stevensville before bursting in to flames. Fire department personnel from Kent Island Volunteer were on the scene to extinguish the fires.

Maryland State Police, Maryland Transportation Authority Police and deputies from the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Allied agencies assisted with securing the scene and by keeping traffic flowing.

Federal authorities at the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified of the crash. FAA officials are already on the scene.

The Maryland State Police will not speculate on the cause of the crash. The cause of the crash will be investigated and determined by federal authorities.

LSA airplane - Build at home kit with pretty good safety record. Need sport pilot license. One step up from ultra light. Sad to see one down and fatalities.
