Barack Obama has spent the last week reminding Americans that he's unfit to lead. While terrorists ran wild in Europe, the commander in chief who won't command cheerfully took in a baseball game with communist murderers. As the death toll mounted, he danced the tango while being courted by Argentinian kleptocrats who have bankrupted their country. Afterwards, he poured gasoline on the dumpsterfire that we call his presidency. While speaking at a town hall in Buenos Aires, Obama said the following:
President Barack Obama downplayed the differences between capitalism and communism, claiming that they are just “intellectual arguments.”He urged those at a town hall event in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday to “just choose from what works.”
Obama said, “So often in the past there’s been a sharp division between left and right, between capitalist and communist or socialist.”
“And especially in the Americas, that’s been a big debate, right? Oh, you know, you’re a capitalist Yankee dog, and oh, you know, you’re some crazy communist, you know, that’s going to take away everybody’s property. And I mean, those are interesting intellectual arguments, but I think for your generation, you should be prObama then said, “You don’t have to worry about whether it neatly fits into socialist theory or capitalist theory. You should just decide what works.”
In the late '80s, Ronald Reagan toured the crumbling Soviet Union and made the case for human liberty to those who had spent decades suffering under tyranny, bringing hope to people who previously had none. He made the case to the world that there was an economic system that cherished human liberty, and a system that promised tyranny. Today, Obama's message to the political prisoners of Cuba and the beleaguered debtors of Argentina is "oh, you're suffering? it's all the same to me."
Mr. President: Cubans fleeing for their lives on anything that might float would beg to differ.
