WHOOPS, MY BAD!
With another 2" to 4" of snow on it's way overnight till 6 AM, the snow is very wet and very heavy. That being said, the snow plows cannot stop this very heavy and wet snow from causing damage throughout the City and County. As far as the County is concerned, they will replace any and all damaged mailboxes with a standard black mailbox.

Going down Nanticoke Rd all the way to Waterview, it looks like someone was having a competition to see how many they could take out.
Most snow plow drivers drive so fast that the impact of the heavy snow is the culprit. Mine was knocked off the post again today and it is an inconvenience. However for the most part these guys do an awesome good job.
I wonder how many of these mailboxes had issues to begin with. I replaced many mailboxes in the day from snow plows, the majority may have been finished off by a plow, but had rotten posts at ground level, old brackets, improperly installation to begin with, or inferior materials. If the plows were required to go at a speed slow enough to not impact mailboxes, it would take twice the amount of time to plow the routes. It is not negligence on the part of the operator, but rather a "casualty of war".
The worst part isn't the plow knocking them down, it's the crap replacement mailbox they put in afterwards. Hell, the wooden frames aren't even pressure treated. Absolute joke, cheapest replacement possible. The county will get a bill in the mail the next time.
Your a slob. Your actions could kill someone. A simple accident and instead of your tin and post giving way its now possible object that could kill someone. Or cause more damage than it would have.
I cannot believe you said that the snowplows cannot avoid doing damage. I understand the snow is wet and heavy , but I also know they can avoid the damage. To snap a 4x4 into , which mine was , something needs to be done . 1. avoid clearing the bike lane 2. the trucks are traveling way too fast , slow down a little 3. a bit of a sway around the boxes would also help 4. driver education By the way , I also voted for Culver , I wanted a solution , so don't become part of the problem with excuses.
4:36 Just what we need swaying snow plows! Did you really suggest that? Yes, have them slow down so people like you can complain their roads didn't get clean quick enough. They have to go a certain speed to get the snow off the road. You also have to realize that visibility can be a problem as well as monotonous when you are looking at snow for hours. This just doesn't happen in Wicomico county it happens all over the place.

I think this damage was done by snow plows not vandals. It happens each year with the plows. Most of the time it can't be helped.

Many of these metal boxes have been bent over sideways because the post stayed put.

what would happen if I knocked over 24 boxes and kept going?

Our mail was not delivered today. Our newspaper was delivered. What happened to the US Post Office motto?

Lmao. They close for half a day now and yet salaries stay the same.
