I agree, even if it was put in by the dems years ago it should have been a priority for the republicans to remove it as soon at they took over the house and senate. One thing for sure, we can't keep spending money on these kinds of ridiculous things.

If I'm not mistaken, train travel is at an all-time high as people get sick of the expense, inconvenience and general misery of flying. Every time we take a train, it's packed. This doesn't seem like the right time to cut off Amtrak.
Queensgirl52 stop whining we cannot afford to keep going this way. it is not the federal governments job to subsidize Amtrak. tell them they need to be profitable and support themselves

I noticed beach replenishment too. Sorry, but I have to say if OC wants it's beaches replenished, they should bear all or most of the cost (maybe Maryland could help since they also receive benefits). Some farmer in Iowa shouldn't be paying for it.

We should not be giving 250 million to Egypt. A country that hates and abuses women in the worst way. 92% of the females have undergone genital mutilation. Sick country.
All these expenditures only benefit a few but all working citizens pay for them cut them all!

Many of these make a lot of fiscal sense. But some of these cuts will prevent governmental operations from continuing. Maybe that's the point for some folks. It's not the point for most. Many of these cuts would hurt private industry as well. The foresight is not perfect, but hell at least its a start.
And is Paul Ryan serious? There is really NO WAY to cut anything related the defense? It's an absurdly large and wasteful expenditure. Did we already forget about that boondoggle of a natural gas station in Afghanistan???!
Heavens above. No wonder we're so much debt in our country.
Not that these are not legitimate budget cutting recommendations, but I think the list is from Ryan's 2012 campaign for V.P.
